In the proposition at first, its WPG picks so no chance to be a lottery pick . I would definitely accept that since the CGY pick is also full of condition !

Allen wont ever give us a second round pick.
And I dont see why Mtl would want clifton but only for mittelstad we would still need to add a lot.

TDL and still out of it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>As I said above, MTL fans will far overvalue what Xhekaj is and will be, based on the fisticuffs/fan favourite aspect.
He is currently a 3rd pairing or 7th dman (even without Reinbacher, Mailloux, etc.... arriving) behind similar aged and higher upside guys like Struble, Guhle, Harris, Barron and only a couple of vets, on a team that isnt that great. So the idea that he is ever higher than 3rd pairing on a good team, or in a system laden with young talent like MTL is remote. SO MTL fans wanting Mittelstadt or wanting a 1st AND MORE for what is a good tough guy is not suprising but over the top based on what the player and his future is.</div></div>
Is he a 6-7 D at the moment yes. But he’s only in his second year pro. had a pretty good first year in the league without playing in the A. The thing is this type of player is really rare and thats probably why you want to acquire him. + If the hbs were to move him, it will logically be to a western team and not a division team.
With that said we can accept your second pick for Harris or Barron

TDL and still out of it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Maybe, but with their depth at defense, especially with prospects/youngsters (Guhle, Harris, Barron, Struble, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Trudeau, etc...and youre never going to play more than 3-4 youngsters) and the quality of the BUF 2nd (a top 40 pick), Im not sure they get much more. I know X has a legend attached and is a fan favourite, but a high 2nd for a tough guy/3rd pairing guy is good return based on MTL needs.</div></div>
So with that same logic, you already have Thompson, Cozens, Mittelstad and Krebs. No room for Savoie Ostlund and Kulich so will you trade them to us for 2nd pick ?

Holtz for Guhle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Ooh thank you for finding another example of Montreal trading a top 4 dman for a forward.
Romanov was 22 years old, playing 20.5 minutes a night at 2LD for Montreal with decent enough metrics, nothing special tho
Guhle is 22 years old, playing 20.5 minutes a night at 2LD for Montreal with decent enough metrics, nothing special tho
I think it's a fantastic comp tbh</div></div>
I think the difference is Guhle is viewed as a top pairing defensemen. it was not the case anymore with romanov when they trade him

Allen can be a pretty good backup to Kochetkov. He would do better than Raanta behind this team.. and Andersen wont ever be healthy he is made of glass .

Yeah I think Allen is only going to fetch a third tops even retained but hey I hope I’m wrong!
Pezzetta is super well liked and does his job well without complaining why even bothering moving him for a 5th?
Last trade is super interesting, well done. Wonder what Buffalo fans think.</div></div>
For pezzetta, he is a 13th/14th forwards and moving him opens up a space for a youngster like Heineman who has better upside and can hit!
Also wondering what Sabres fans think on that one :)!

Without retention I would hope the habs put the trigger even for a 4th

Return of the Barron
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Just_A_Guess</b></div><div>MTL won't move him for that little, whether anyone sees him as 1st round pick value or not. He's projecting to be our 3RD for the foreseeable future and we finally have depth on the right side. We would honestly need a 1st to consider moving him, otherwise it just recreates the lack of quality RD's in the system.</div></div>
Maybe not this year but already next year we will need to start thinking making spots for Reinbacher, Mailloux and Hutson .
I really like Kovacevic so I hope Savard and Barron are the first ones sacrifice.
With that being said i would take a second round pick for Barron but for 2024 or 2025
