Habs would want one of your young forwards in any deal. We are natural trade partners!

Maybe, but with their depth at defense, especially with prospects/youngsters (Guhle, Harris, Barron, Struble, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Trudeau, etc...and youre never going to play more than 3-4 youngsters) and the quality of the BUF 2nd (a top 40 pick), Im not sure they get much more. I know X has a legend attached and is a fan favourite, but a high 2nd for a tough guy/3rd pairing guy is good return based on MTL needs.

Think it's pretty fair for a 3rd pair D, pick is probably gonna be in the late 30's

Friedman literally said that Montreal received a first round pick for Xhekaj and they said no. A 2nd round pick is not a good return if Romanov get us the 13th overall pick.

He also said PHI said no to a 1st and 2nd for Laughton. (i dont really buy it). And Romanov, at that point was all top 4 upside, I dont really think X has. ANd Romanov has become a solid top 4 guy

I like X, but really it comes to addressing weaknesses, and while I think MTL is smallish, their defense and depth in youngsters makes him redundant or a 3rd pairing at most. Maybe BUF adds a bit but I dont think a 3rd pairing guy who is likely soon to be buried on his own team by the depth WILL EVER get what MTL fans will want.

Again theres Barron, Struble, Harris and Guhle HERE and now with 2 of the good prospects on the way, I dont think you march out an all youngster defense, and I think the likely candidates to go are Harris and X, and I dont know if you get much more than a GOOD 2nd for X.

With the Depth they do have, that would be surprising if they did turn down a 1st.

Dallas and Arizona pass. If they could pull off the Philly trade that'd be fine.

On Mtl need lol. What are Mtl need?? Top 6 forward. That the on’y need they have. They have over 30 pick in the next 3 draft and be adding to that at the deadline. Trading Xhekaj for a second round pick does fix anything and clearly ain’t enough to pull the trigger. Xhekaj is a unicorn and unless the return is irresistible he won’t be move. On of Struble, Harris, Kovacevic, Barron, will be the odd man.
Second round pick are not a need let make that clear

As I said above, MTL fans will far overvalue what Xhekaj is and will be, based on the fisticuffs/fan favourite aspect.

He is currently a 3rd pairing or 7th dman (even without Reinbacher, Mailloux, etc.... arriving) behind similar aged and higher upside guys like Struble, Guhle, Harris, Barron and only a couple of vets, on a team that isnt that great. So the idea that he is ever higher than 3rd pairing on a good team, or in a system laden with young talent like MTL is remote. SO MTL fans wanting Mittelstadt or wanting a 1st AND MORE for what is a good tough guy is not suprising but over the top based on what the player and his future is.

Idk that any of these trades actually happen
But NONE of them are crazy
They’re all in the realm of possible, & make at least some sense

Especially for not being a Sabres fan,
you did a pretty decent job here imo 👏👏👏

Flyers aren't doing that deal. Laughton has more value than Krebs let alone adding Ginning in there.

So with that same logic, you already have Thompson, Cozens, Mittelstad and Krebs. No room for Savoie Ostlund and Kulich so will you trade them to us for 2nd pick ?

Is he a 6-7 D at the moment yes. But he’s only in his second year pro. had a pretty good first year in the league without playing in the A. The thing is this type of player is really rare and thats probably why you want to acquire him. + If the hbs were to move him, it will logically be to a western team and not a division team.

With that said we can accept your second pick for Harris or Barron

Krebs? Sure. But are comparing X's upside and contributionms to Mittelstadt, Cozens or Thompson?

Harris is worth a 2nd, but I think you're under selling on Barron. If thats what BUF needed, sure, but its not.
