Description
The Hawks are loaded within the farm system at LD, BUT the hawks can also offer Ryan Johnson an opportunity to fight for an NHL roster spot this year too. How many other teams can say...We've got THREE spots on the left side open right now? Think you can manage to earn one of them?...

I also hope the Hawks bring over Ilya Safonov. Not 100% sure what his plans are. Maybe if the Hawks draft Mitchkov that might entice him in a year or two down the road?

Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Foegele, Warren
  2. Yamamoto, Kailer
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
I really struggle with the value of this trade. Obviously, the Hawks won't be sending assets to EDM for Foegele/Yamamoto (That's crazy talk), but I'm not sure EDM sends too much to the Hawks either. Neither player is worth their contract and EDM needs cap space next year. So, it leads me to believe that EDM would need to give up a pick/prospect, but I just don't think it'll be that much.
EDM
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Hawks get (2) fillers. Sit them on the bench or have them simply help the kids learn to play at the NHL level. Yamamoto is an RFA. Try to flip his rights at the TDL if he bounces back.
2.
CHI
  1. Bailey, Josh
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (NYI)
NYI
3.
CHI
  1. Johnson, Ryan [Reserve List]
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (PHI)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Ryan Johnson is really just a signing. Thought I'd toss him in this trade anyway, but he just opts to go with the Hawks vs Sabres because Dahlin/Power aren't going anywhere. The Hawks current NHL level LD aren't anything to brag about.

Dahlin plays the right side. But yeah, Samuelsson and Power aren't going anywhere on the left side and there has been lots of talk of Johnson not signing with BUF. Even with our boatload of LHD prospects, I would love to add Johnson.

I believe Safonov signed an extension through the end of the 2024-2025 season

Murphy isn’t worth 3 second, one being in the top 8 of seconds. Not a chance.

Sorry misread

Can't see Buffalo giving up both their 2nd's in the '23 draft. Maybe one in '23 and one in '25? Not crazy about the Edmonton trade for the Hawks. Move up a round for taking on almost $6m in cap hit? I wouldn't do it. Safonov is signed in the KHL for 2 more seasons. Can't come over til 25/26 season at the earliest. This team definitely in the running for an early lottery pick again though!

You haven’t been watching Edmonton play lately. Both of these players are contributing, they’re not giving them away. Oilers might take Raddish and Stauber for them and they’ll throw in Campbell.
