Joel Edmundson would have needed to show up more after the tradedeadline to justify a 3rd even at 50% retained. I think the Kings can find better options in the free agency, my pick would be OEL or Vlasic at the league minimum if either is bought out to be our 3LD

From everything hughes has said the most likely scenario is they wait for dubois.....if they even want him.

If they win the lotto or smith is available at their pick theres 0 need for dubois we have our 3 centers in suzuki dach and bedard/smith/fantilli. And thats before ypu consider beck kidney kapanen etc.

We dont need a LW either with caufield and slaf.

The florida pick if traded is likely going for a RD or a goalie. Those are the long term holes.

Hughes has said there is no pressure to be good next year. Hes not going to panic trade for pld

This is all very true... but i just wonder if they will feel the pressure of signing a francophone first line or second line player... I think if Dubois plays well in the playoffs and is willing to sign an extension for under 8 mil then they might go for it..........but those are some major ifs!!!! without an extension then dubois would have us over the barrell and hughes wont do that!!
So the question is does dubois want max dollars or a fair contract and play at home.. If he wants max dollars he wont be playing for us... suzuki will be our top paid forward until a superstar comes along.. Caufield will get a bridge probably as he hasnt had a big year yet..... 2 year bridge is likely and then he might get over 8 mil but right now he would get 7.6 x 8 if he wants long term without having done it yet?

No chance Dragicevic lasts to #37 and Hrabal drops out of the second round. (The latter would be a good selection for you at #37.)

Pretty much my feelings exactly. And even if you DON'T win one of the lotteries, Smith will probably be available at #5 (although in their Mock Drafts, a lot of your fellow Montreal fans have the Habs taking Benson there instead of Smith).

Another thing Hughes has said multiple times is being aware of the pressure of the montreal market especially for francophone. He isnt going to make a trade to apease the french first bigots if it doesnt make sense on a hockey level.

Another important thing to remember is although this site likes to assume the habs want every francophone there has only been 1 trade in the last 20 years where the habs got more francophone nhl players than they gave up. Its not something they normally do.
