Description
I think the Kings will be priced out on Gavrikov and start looking into LD options, and settle on getting both Graves and Dumoulin. Although the prices might seem excessive, all three pairings could operate as top-line pairings. This would put much less pressure on the goaltender and bolster blue-line scoring. Graves gets to really break out paired with Roy. Dumoulin seeks to rebound from last season being paired on the third line with Clarke to bolster his stats against weaker competition and safeguard a rookie.

To get to this point, the Kings will need to use Durzi, Grundstrom and Walker as sacrificial lambs to dump Peterson's contract. The Wild-Kings connection continues another year with the offensive-centered cheap cap hit Durzi (38 points) going to the Wild who can better contain his defensive mistakes. The Blackhawks can take on Petersen's contract and continue to obtain assets in their early rebuild.

Hawks probably accept, although I'm not confident the Kings will have those two 2nd's from MN to work with.

That is not enough to take Petersen alone much less with Walker. Walker is owed 3.35 and carried a 2.65 cap hit with the Hawks having Jones/Murphy/Zaitsev all as RHD with Regula needing at the least some NHL games this coming season.

The Petersen trade basis is a '24 or '25 2nd and one of Grans/Pinella/Spence (in that order of preference for me). We are talking very late in the round 2nd and an early 2nd type of prospect. Hawks are not eating 8.35 in actual salary, and 7.65 in cap this season (with another 3 the next season if the buyout Petersen) for a couple of late 2nds that is the best case (buying out Petersen) with this proposed trade.

I'm going to edit this to a he11 no as I realized one of the picks is a '23 meaning you think the Hawks are paying the 4 million Summer bonus and paying 12.35 to buy a pair of late 2nd round picks. In no world does that make ANY sense and it definately does not in a very tight cap NHL.

Sean Walker is not a cap dump.
