Description
Tkachuk (with an 8-year extension) was traded for two quality players in the final year of their contracts, as well as a lottery protected 1st round pick. There's no way LA is sending out Clarke, Byfield, Vilardi, Kempe, or any other quality young player under team control for 2+ years for a guy that they can sign as a UFA next summer.

I know that some of you are going to take issue with the amount of the Gavrikov extension. It's not the point of this ACGM, so this is just a placeholder. If he won't sign that deal, then the Kings will look elsewhere for a LHD.

I'm assuming based on Blake's comments from last week's exit interviews that he intends to let Petersen try to win back the net next season. If he can't then the Kings will address that during the season. Also not the point of this ACGM.

That's not realistic at all. Leafs have no interest in getting another aging veteran center.

And the Kings have no interest in giving up quality young players for a guy they can have for free next summer.

Jonathan Huberdeau is 29 years old
    Anze Kopitar is 35.

Mackenzie Weegar was/is much better than Matt Roy (on the time at Florida)

A more realistic value would be

    Fiala
Gavrikov (if he weren’t a FA)
    2024 1st

In all, the Leafs do not do this

Fiala has 6 years left on his contract. If Fiala was in the final year of his deal, then sure.

I think Roy and Weegar are actually pretty close. Roy is defensively superior to Weegar, and he actually scored more goals this season (the first season in a long time that the Kings are actually offensively competent) than Weegar's career high.

This isn't close to comparable to the tkachuk trade. Kopitar is 36 going into the season. Huberdeau was 29 and coming off a 100+ pt season. Only thing comparable about this is they're pending UFA's.
