If MTL wants to wait a year and try to sign dubois in UFA, that’s up to them. Dubois is pretty intent on testing the market as an UFA. However, many teams might be willing to get him even as a rental. Washington and Boston come to mind. Carolina as well. Maybe even NYR. And they’d be willing to pay more than what some MTL fans are on here trading for him. The Washington trade is an idea I had (I posted it a couple of days ago, and got some feedback, so I want to make slight changes). I also happened to post it during the draft lottery so it got pushed down really fast by all the hawks posts and I didn’t get a lot of feedback. So here ya go.
For the Washington trade, I think the jets are giving up more, but I wanted to hear what caps fans think. At most, the caps add a late 2nd or 3rd.
After that, I kind of just had fun lol. Tried to make sense of what other teams wanted as well. I’d personally like to get Murphy because I think the current jets d is too small and slow. Replacing demelo with Murphy fixes the former, and schmidt with heinola the latter. Buffalo fans really want demelo, so if I’m getting Murphy, I’d be willing to move him. The jets take a chance on luukhonen while also picking up Murray as a backup. If luukhonen has a bad camp, we waive him and Murray is the backup. Hawks fans also want a 1st for Murphy, mainly because they have so many 2nds. Why not move up a round then? Thought it was a good solution but value might be slightly off. I also moved the schmidt contract which doesn’t require a big sweeter, but does have slight negative value. I also added chisholm who I think would be great in Chicago and it’s either him or heinola in Winnipeg (and I’m a big heinola believer).
Finally, the last one is to move up. The jets have a fair bit of higher end prospects, but if someone like wood or reinbacher is available at 12 oa, the jets should make the move to move up.
Scheifele and Helly are signed to 6x9M extensions.
Was tired of the boring old stuff so tried something different. Lmk what y’all think.
And finally, where does this team end up? Playoffs? Contender? Lottery? I personally think they contend for first in the central, but could have another collapse like last year and 2019.
So the Hawks move up from #44 to #28, but it costs them Murphy to do it? Plus taking on Schmidt's contract? That's a really easy no thanks from the Hawks.
And moving up from #17 to #6 definitely costs more than a 3rd and Stanley. AZ declines as well.

Ya Arizona not trading out of 6 with the amount of picks they have and the possibility of catching a falling mitchkov gamble or bpa, give geekie a fellow ice draft pick in benson even.
Matthew wood or David reinbacher. Tbh, I don’t think there’s much point of trading up unless it’s someone with size. The jets upcoming prospects aren’t small, but they aren’t big guys either. I think either wood or reinbacher would add an element the jets don’t have right now.

It’ll be 24 oa, not 28. And you are also getting chisholm, who I think will be a solid top 4 d. He’s as nhl ready as they come too.
I could just take out Schmidt’s contract and move it elsewhere with a piece. I honestly doing think his value is that “negative”. Like sure we will need to add a sweetener, but it won’t be massive.
Also, may I remind you that Marino got smith and a 3rd last year. Albeit chisholm is no smith, but jumping from 44 to 24 is also there…
I agree on the Arizona trade tbh. However, when a big former 1st rounder d-man is involved, u never know how much other teams value him. I wouldn’t do it if I was Arizona, but you never know.
