Description
Yes the trades favor the pens, it's a dream offseason for a reason. Yes there are probably way too many moves for 1 offseason, again, dream offseason.

Team needs: goalie overhaul ✔️
2nd pair DFD ✔️
Top 6 W ✔️
Elite 3rd line ✔️
Better depth ✔️

Also assuming Carter develops an allergy to his equipment, again, dream offseason

Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Zadina, Filip
Additional Details:
I don't think he's spectacular, but if DET wants to give up on him already I'll gladly take him
DET
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (VGK)
2.
PIT
  1. 2024 4th round pick (BUF)
BUF
  1. Petry, Jeff
Additional Details:
Petry is criminally underrated, he was still a top 4 guy last yr, and you know NHL GMs don't care nearly enough about a player's age
3.
WPG
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
I'll gladly take one of the better DFDs in the league to pair with POJ on the 2nd pair, most teams seem to undervalue him too
4.
PIT
  1. Schmaltz, Nick
  2. Vejmelka, Karel
Additional Details:
Schmaltz is criminally underrated, might want out of ARZ, and if Vej can play like he did last yr, he's the best G available that won't break the bank (which is my main goal for goalies, just get a competent one without spending too much)
ARI
  1. Pickering, Owen
  2. 2023 1st round pick (PIT)
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (PIT)
5.
WSH
  1. Granlund, Mikael
  2. Légaré, Nathan
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
I do not understand how/why Mantha is a cap dump, he's beeg, which you would think NHL GMs like, and is actually very good at hockey
6.
PIT
  1. Garland, Conor
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
I also don't understand how Garland is viewed as close to a cap dump, he is also very good at hockey
7.
PIT
    Obligatory ANA/PIT depth deal
    ANA
    1. Rutta, Jan
    2. 2023 7th round pick (FLA)
    Additional Details:
Rutta's contract is far worse than Petry's, he's a meh bottom pairing guy overpaid by ~1 mil, not a horrid deal that costs so much to move, but not great
    8.
    PIT
    1. 2023 7th round pick (CHI)
    CHI
    1. DeSmith, Casey
    Additional Details:
Could be any team, but idk if Chicago thinks Soderblom is ready

except they do care about age, like all the time? Petry isn't criminally underrated, he's rated as exactly what he is. Good, old, overpaid. Thats why Pit is moving him. If he wasn't two of those three things, he'd be a non starter in 95% of these armchair teams.

DeMelo certainly isn't undervalued by WPG. He's a top pairing Dman with Morrissey and is worth more to WPG than a draft pick. WPG will likely only trade him in a rebuild scenario or to make room for a better RHD coming in, as they have zero NHL-ready RHDs in their pipeline right now.

A "dream offseason" for Penguins looks like a nightmare offseason for the other teams taking back the Pittsburgh rejects and cap dumps being suggested.....

There must be a contest underway between Penguins (Petry), Leafs (Brodie) and Flames (Tanev) fans to see how many times they can each propose the same cap dumps on the Sabres.
