Description
Based on some cap situations this could be a viable solution to both the Jackets and the Bruins issues. The Bruins have two arb cases pending. Swayman is likely going to command 2 mil at least and Frederic likely 1.5 mil. The cap doesn’t work out. Plus, Boston also doesn’t have depth in their forward corps due to cap issues. This is where the CBJ can help. They could use both those players and in turn could take some cap from them while providing some low cost depth that would not screw their cap long term.

Boston gets Tarasov to back up Ullmark. This move gives them a young talented player who if he can stay healthy could provide Ullmark the relief he needs while Tarasov can develop with sheltered minutes. Foudy and Robinson provide depth in the bottom 6 for a very cheap price. Neither are signed long term and could be long term players if they find a place in Boston. Boston also gets Bean who is younger than Forbot and is going to be cheaper in this scenario.

CBJ condense their forward groups and get a goaltender in Swayman who could compete with Elvis for that #1 spot. Frederic would provide size and a decent skill set to 4th line that looks to be very physical. Neither would be signed long term allowing the Jackets to have cap flexibility next summer but could be options for this team in the future if they work out. Forbot would provide some vet leadership on the backend and is also a one year contract that doesn’t handcuff the Jackets long term.

Like the thought, and there definitely is something there for a trade between the two teams. However, a couple things.
1) Swayman and Frederic both command 3+ and 2.5+ each, which is why they're headed to arbitration.
2) Swayman doesn't challenge Merzlikins, he takes the job outright. I'm a Bs fan so I'm biased, but Swayman with a good D corps in front of him is a top 10 goalie in the league, he's just never been challenged since Ullmark has done so well. For a #1 goalie, the cost is more.
3) I would argue all the Bruins have is depth. There are at least 9 guys who can fill out the bottom 6, what they need is a gamechanger.

All that said- a deal for Frederic and Swayman (without Forbort) would cost picks and prospects big upside. For the rights to both and another prospect- two 2nds, Sillinger, and Boquist or a D prospect

Don't think the team wants to be this close to the cap with potentially ~$6M in ELC bonuses due. It's almost a certainty that they'll be paying out above $575K.

Swayman is a good piece. I think we’d need to include one of our recent good prospects (cuelemans, dbb, dumais, etc) obviously we aren’t sending brinley or our early guys mateychuk sillinger etc but a player with appx a first ij value probably needs to be moved to make this work.

Sillinger is the guy that fits the mold best for what the Bruins want. We need an one the cusp, NHL ready center prospect who can play a sheltered 2/3C for a bit and then take off. Of the guys you mentioned, only Cuelemens really interests the Bs but it would still take more.

There is not one piece of any interest or need that would make them consider moving Swayman for.

Bean/Robinson for Freddy/Forbort is probably close to fair value. B’s might consider, but probably not.

The rest for Sway is just an easy no.
