Wouldn’t hate the sens trade, but I think they’d have to have a 3rd team retain ~1m on Granlund to make it work for this year.

Why would the Sabres make such a move? Lyubushkin, who currently holds a third-line grinder position, and Bryson, a reserve for any high-scoring defensive player, are both essential components to the team. Petry, although formerly a scoring defenseman, is aging and his scoring prowess is waning. Ruhwedel, on the other hand, is a remnant of the Sabres' less successful days.

If the intention is to free up some salary cap space, it would be more beneficial to negotiate a deal with Arizona. Given these reasons, the Sabres would likely reject this proposition.

I mean to call Lyubushkin or Bryson essential is hilarious.

But no, buffalo would not trade 2 of our 9 defensemen for 2 more defensemen

I appreciate not another EK trade haha.

Is this team any better than the current roster though? Joseph isn't better than Granlund. Petry is better than Lyubushkin. Don't think Bryson is an upgrade to POJ.

There in lies the rub.
Does Pittsburgh want to move out cap space for a bigger trade?
Would the Sabres accept a second round draft pick to take on the cap?
For only a second, the Sabres would say no.
