Description
The minnesota trade would only happen if they fall out of the playoff hunt permanently and decide to retool at the deadline. I know they wouldnt really want to trade him which is why they are getting back a first and the leafs best D prospect. Alternatively the leafs could go for David Savard or Chris Tanev over Middleton if he isnt an option

Too much for Middleton. On a cup team, he should be slotted as a #5 dman. I like the player. I like his contract. But he is not worth a 1st and a good defensive prospect.

true, I just think he's exactly the kind of guy tre would be willing to overpay for. Time will tell

Definitely an overpayment, but an overpayment is what it would take right now since there's no hurry to trade him. That being said, the 1st is probably overpayment enough so Niemela could probably just be swapped for some random player to keep the number of contracts even. I'm sure other Wild fans might disagree with me and realistically I'm not sure Guerin would do that since they need Middleton now. They kind of handcuffed themselves by extending Hartman, Foligno, and Zuccarello unfortunately.
