But that leaves a lot of junk for Seeler:

Savoie is a former 4th round pick not scoring in 2 yrs in AHL has minimal value
Nieminielin is a 25 yr old going nowhere in 2 yrs in AHL
Fogele is an expiring cap dump

Thats just a few bodies PHI doesn;t want.

I'm not disagreeing with the overall thrust of your comment, but the part where you call Foegele a cap dump is simply unreasonable. He's not some useless 4th liner that's paid 2x his worth. If I had to guess, you mean that he's a necessary cap casualty (different from a cap dump) for EDM to complete the trade but that doesn't mean he's valueless or a negative value. At absolute worst, he's an asset you can flip for a 3rd, perhaps even a 2nd given his performance this year.

I'd be willing to bet Chicago wouldn't retain in a trade for a contract that still has a year left on it for anything less than a 2nd unless it's something beneficial like RyJo in Colorado, and even then I really don't see it happening.

Exactly what I was thinking, cap dump is unkind. But to PHI as an exp[iiring UFA that theyd need to flip by a deadline, he offers not tons. If EDM traded him for a 3rd and added the 3rd to the package to PHI then sure
