I've seen the trade enough times that I feel the need to ask: what is the logic behind the Eller to EDM trade? They have more than enough Cs and are too tight to the cap to really commit another 2.4mil to a guy that ends up playing 4C for them.

If the Avs make that 2nd a first could you retain or get someone else to retain?

As HockeyManiac95 says above you'd need to find a way to add in some retention for that to work for the Avs. Otherwise it's a no.

not even feasible.

How you going to resign Doc, MP and Crosby and please tell me you don't think Crosby should be taking a pay cut, he's one of the few people on this team who is criminally under paid.

If that’s the best offer Ottawa could get on Norris then I think they have to keep him. Smith hasn’t looked good and is expensive so realistically Ottawa would be doing Pittsburgh a favour, Puustinen and a conditional 3rd don’t move the needle.

You’re basically getting a lottery ticket and if Norris can stay healthy (massive if) you have one of the most lopsided trades in recent memory. Even if he doesn’t get over the shoulder, he stays on ltir… 100% of the upside of the trade would be on the Penguins side.
