Description
only semi-realistic. Step 1 is fire vincent and hire berube. Im going to continue to use nj as the team for goalie trades as a team that needs goaltending. I get that Elvis isn't the ideal starter nj might look for, it is just an example. Chose the isles to represent a team that needs scoring, laine and the blue jackets just hasn't worked out.

Gustafsson does nothing for us; we need more defensively-oriented blueliners. Talbot is not an upgrade on what we already have in net. And Marchessault will likely never willingly play here, even though the front office he had such disdain for is now being replaced a second time.

I'd gladly take Stephenson, tho.

I wouldn't mind taking a risk on Laine, him and Barzal could go crazy but neither team does this for very different reasons. Columbus won't sell low on him and if Laine does get traded it will definitely be his last shot to prove himself

If the goal here is just “can this team be at least a WC2?”

Sure.

But realistically, pass on the trades. I’d love JM or Chandler on those contracts, but they’ll do better.

Thank you so much for being one of the few posters who can actually look at this from another team’s perspective.

I mean that sincerely.

I mostly agree with you on taking a shot with Laine. A Laine-Horvat-Barzal line could be dominant. But there's no way the Islanders should take him at his current cap hit. If Columbus bought him out or retained 50%, then I'm sure the Islanders would be the top team interested.
