I hate to be negative, but I agree. You cannot give a soon to be 36 year old a 4 yr deal that has no offence. Way too much for Emelin. Too much for Subban.

This is rough on many levels.

The UFA’s. Plex 4 @ 4.6? Good defensive center, good guy in locker room but he’s 35 and fading. 1 or 2 years at 1.5 would be generous. Neal, well i guess that is the nature of FA 30 year old getting to long of a deal for to much money. So if that is the guy you want.....my guess is you will be regretting it by year 3. The younger guys aren’t going to sign 4 year deals for that little when their value is going to increase. Same for Lindgren and Fucale. You are light on Danault.

The trades. Oh boy. Fla passes. Barkov is the best player in the deal and the rest don;t make up the difference in value on the ice or contract wise. A little to agressive for Letang. Subban has more value to Vegas than what you are offering (and my dumbass team let him go for nothing) they decline. Calgary passes, they are deep on D and have Tyler Parsons and Jon Gillies in the system in goal. You are offering nothing they need. All the swapping of picks at the end is a waste of time. It rarely happens outside of draft day. It;s russian roulette. The lesser trades....meh...whatever.
