Pens

Created by: jacobzentner
Team: 2015-16 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 4, 2016
Published: Feb. 4, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Vancouver trade was mainly to get depth and speed plus two defenseman that are better than cole and lovejoy. Tampa may do that trade just to not have to sign Killorn at the end of the year and getting Derrick is a bonus for them, they get some depth forwards as well. The MTL trade is for a depth defenseman and to force Sullivan to play Plots. Cole was just the first free agent depth guy I came across, it could be anyone. Please comment.

I just don't see how this makes the team better... I dont think a third pairing of Bartkowski/Weber is better than Pouliot/Lovejoy, and neither have the upside potential that Pouliot has.

Killorn and Hansen are good players... But is it that much of an upgrade over Kunitz (who has found his game lately) and Hornqvist? Plus, both deals (the Vancouver deal especially) greatly favor the Pens and I doubt the relative teams take them.

That bottom 6 looks like a mess compared to what it should be when healthy with our roster. Plots needs to be scratched, his skating is just not a fit for the system that Sully runs. Curious what your issue with our fourth line is, considering how great they have played recently.

Then Pens may be forced to make a move due to the Fehr/Bonino injuries, but I doubt they do any this extreme.

Yeah pretty much on board with mtdavis. Although I don't think Killorn is > Pouilot +, his logic and points are all spot on.

Why even put Sheary at C? If the bottom 6 is that desperate call up Sundqvist. Then you're not scrambling for a UFA wing when 2/3rds of the season is gone.

Teams mostly are what they are by now. Any remaining moved should add depth or acquire futures. Don't think these moves do either.

This is so stupid it hurts to read. Killorn a 40 point player who you can find in free agency is aquired for a blue chip defense prospect? LOL. And the Vancouver deals is shit aswell. So is the habs. 0/5

Okay without getting rude like some people ^ ^ I agree with DD67 and mtdavis311, I don't see this team as any better, just mostly moving bodies and I don't think its a good move to ship out Pittsburgh's best prospect for a mediocre player.

Let me defend myself here. They depth that this team has is much better than it currently is. Those two defenseman that would be aquired are so much of an upgrade over cole and lovejoy. Poliout has a lot less value than you think and killorn with sid would be very good

9 player trades rarely happen in fact maybe never have happened between 2 teams and i like some of the players from vancouver namely Baertschi, Hansen and Vey, Weber and Bartkowski both can't hold a spot in the lineup with Vancouver. Both are puckmoving defenseman who arent good in their own zone. So they aren't really an upgrade. Plus you'd have to hope Vancouver who is going with a youth movement gives up all that youth for oft injured bennet, Decent Hornqvist and Cole who is still a league worse in plus minus I believe.

Killorn isn't producing this season with the lightning despite being a top 6. don't think he would be an upgrade for crosby he's just younger. He's never scored 20 goals in a season and won't this season. Pouliot is more highly regarded than that.
Baertschi would be a better fit with Sid from a skill set perspective.
And i'd much rather have Sundqvist or Kunhackl or wilson up than Plotnikov or Eric Cole.

How is the depth better with Rust/Plotnikov as third liners? Yes, the team is struggling with injuries now, but when healthy, you have Fehr/Cullen/Bonino/Bennett/Porter in the bottom 6... You can't tell me that the bottom 6 you have on the roster on here is better than that.

Cole has been awful. Lovejoy isn't great, but I don't see Bartkowksi/Weber as improvements. I'm sorry, but Pouliot/Lovejoy is a better than pairing than Bartkowski/Weber.
