Ya, your a bruins fan right? What do you think of it?
Good deal for both sides
Boston gets a depth d-man that can move around the bottom pair and fill in a top 4 role in a pinch. Just looking at his hit and block shot totals, he'd be up in the top 2 for each category for Boston so that's a plus (from a defensive side). Holden isn't going to be anything more than a support role player and I think that's where he's best suited.
Rangers get another pick to help restock the prospect pool and they get a older "prospect" that's had some experience in the NHL. O'Gara wont give you much offensively, but he'll be a serviceable 3rd pairing guy or AHL leader. O'Gara didn't have a future in Boston and I wish him the best. Being just down the street from Yale I'll always pull for him and maybe I'll take a trip to Hartford (where I imagine he'll play next season).
I don't see a winner or loser in this deal. I see two organizations who acquired assets that work towards their organization current goal. For the Rangers that getting assets and focusing on next year and for Boston that's going after a Cup.
LOL funny to read some of the comments here and see how things turned out.
O'Gara currently is on an AHL contract as no NHL team offered him a deal, Keene was traded for Julien Gauthier and Nick Holden went on to sign with VGK
