There is no way the Rangers will only get a First for Nash with all of the interest in him right now. Gorton will leverage all of the teams to get the most which will be either a very high end prospect and a first. Or nhl roster player and a prospect and pick.

You have to remember a 1st from Nashville is basically going to be a 2nd round pick as they will probably be around the 28th pick give or take..

Fair value for Nash, Nash never score over 40 points in the last three seasons. @GSMITH17G, be realistic!

Nah, Nash does not cost so much.
Absolutely max price: 1 pick + Aberg(but it looks like overpaid). I prefer 3d round pick+Aberg.
He is 33 y.o UFA, he is not "old Nash".
Yes, interest is great. But no one will overpay.

I disagree he is rated as the number one trade target on the market by TSN for a reason. Almost every insider has stated it will take minimum a First and a NHL ready prospect. Couple that with a bidding war you may be able to squeeze out a little something more (not saying that is going to happen).

Teams that are in a Win now mode will overpay somewhat. It does not matter what his age is your not trading for him to be your future you are trading for him to win the cup this year and he has the best tools to impact a ready to win team.

Like I stated above a NSH first is basically a 2nd rounder...

Okay, you might be right, maybe they could add something else small ... though he isn't worth 1st+Fabbro ... I think a 1st is reasonable because he's struggled a bit this season but we know what he can do. But you have to remember he's a rental so they aren't getting a 1st AND a top prospect.

Boy ... there sure it a lot of interest in this "old" not good anymore Nash. I've never seen anyone worth just a 3rd round pick being so highly sought after and ranking #1 among available commodities. You guys must know more than those stupid GMs that get paid millions to do it for a living.

What the 1st few trades of 2018 have shown us is that the trade values for these players is as high if not higher than the deadline last year. Nash is getting as good if not better deal than Hanzal. 1st + 2nd + prospect. or 1st + Top prospect.

Supply & Demand
(Only one Nash, multiple teams interested and it turns into a bidding war.)

Martin Hanzal alone got ARI a 1st, 2nd and conditional just last year. Other than position, it's hard to argue Hanzal being the same talent as Rick Nash ... today or ten years ago (especially with his recent play). Supply and demand ... Nash is THE commodity to have right now and a team will be willing to pay more than the other guy if they feel like they're legit Cup contenders. I personally would love rights to Tolvanen but I'm realistic in saying thats unlikely ... but he's worth a 1st and top prospect and I would not be shocked if he fetches more than that if there is a bidding war with STL DAL NSH WPG to name a few.

NASH will get NYR a first & a top prospect. looking at the Teams in the hunt for #61 that pick will be between 22 & 31. So understanding the Preds won't trade EELI TOLVANEN & they are a Deep team on the blue line.
Nash for a 2018 ist & DANTE FABRO is not unreasonable. He may stay at BU for at least another year , hell, he may play 2 & become a UFA like Vesey. He's possibly 2 years away from the NHL & the Preds are looking to win now.

Gotta move Grabner too!

there are plenty of packages that work for Nash out there:

Dallas: 1st + Honka
Calgary: Dube + Fox
Columbus: 1st + Abramov
Minnesota: 1st + Kunin or Kaprizov
Jets: 1st + Vesalainen
Blues: Kyrou +2nd +3rd
Kings: 1st + 2nd +3rd
Ducks: Kase + 2nd + 3rd

All of these are pretty equal, and depending on what teams are in on the bidding right now, this is most likely what the asks are.
