How come Duchene and Ryan bring a similar return as Karlsson?

Way to much for St Louis to acquire one year of Duchene and a cap dump of Ryan. Probably puts the Blues over the cap since no money is going back to Ottawa. What's all that crap coming to Toronto in the last trade?
I think it's too much for Leafs to pay for just one year of Karlsson. And why would the Leafs have to give up a 1st rounder for winning a Cup in 2020 when Karlsson is 99% unlikely not even being a Leaf?

Way too much for 1 year of Erik Karlsson, Fat chance the Leafs can afford him long term. No team is giving up that much for 1 year of Karlsson.

you guys are funny

Those returns for Karlsson and Duchene are ridiculously bad. Any team acquiring those players would have to pony up a BIG price and would ONLY do so if they could make sure those players would come with an extension in place, like we see very often in trades like this. Look no farther than Turris this year.

'
you guys are funny''. No, you're funny. Usually when guys post bad trades, they always put he proviso,," a signed extension in place. " Those extension happen infrequenttly. And what's in for Karlsson, not going to free agency. At least put the Leafs roster 2019/20 roster with Karlsson's new salary and see how it fits the Leafs cap." There are lots of UFA in 2019/20, which the Leafs might have a choice, without giving so any futures. I don't think the Leafs can afford Karlsson anyway.
