Draft Day Trade (MTL)

Created by: ckleiner21
Team: 2017-18 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: May 9, 2018
Published: May 9, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hawks move up to grab a D that won't be there at 8 and MTL trades down knowing there will still be a lot of F's and pick up another 1st while adding depth down the middle. Not sure this really gets done since the Hawks have pretty good depth on the wings.
Trades
CHI
  1. Pacioretty, Max

MTL
  1. Anisimov, Artem

I'd take off MTL's first and Nashvilles first. We really like Zadina on our lineup, but I still see Chicago targeting Pacioretty. Realisticly, how good is Anisimov? I'm wondering if he'd struggle as 1C, or if he could maybe be servicable, at least until we develop our own C to take over. How is he on PK, PP, and devensively overall?

@KeepingItChill Your not getting the #8 overall for a rental in patches. Then also AA.

If Chi needs a D they are perfectly there 8OA ( Dobson, Hugues and maybe Bouchard & Boqvist can finish as high than 8th)
and on MTL side: 8OA + 31OA doesn't worth 3OA... so imagine adding Pacc... for Anisimov... no thanks
You can probably get Anisimov for a low 2nd as Chi need $$$
Mtl would need SAAD in return for that package: 3OA + Pacc for Saad 8OA + 31OA

He is not a #1C, nor has he ever produced close to one. Montreal doesn't need another #3C, so they shouldn't bother going after Anisimov.

#8 for a Rental would be a hard pill to swallow, agreed. AA is nothing special though, definitely not the make or break for either team in this trade.

Interesting counter, I would stick with the 3rd overall and just take Zadina still.

Have seen a lot of Hawks fans on here very keen to move Artie. Why? I know CHI is in a perennial cap crunch now but I think they need him to play 2C. As someone on here informed me about a week ago, Schmaltz FO% is so atrocious that he cannot play C at the NHL level unless he drastically improves.

If they want to get out from under the cap crunch, move Seabrook now. Multiple major sweeteners will be needed to make the deal happen (and probably some retention too), but 6 more years of ~7m for a guy who was healthy scratched this season is untenable for a team desperate for financial flexibility. Moving AA to solve one problem just creates another by opening up a hole at 2C, while getting rid of Seabrook opens up space, both on the cap as well as in the lineup for younger guys like Rutta, Oesterle, and Jokiharju.

This trade is just kind of useless for both teams. Doesn’t solve any of their problems on either side so can’t see either team doing it.

Patches>Anisimov
#3 OVR>#8 OVR, and a #28ish OVR doesn’t cover too much.
I don’t see Montreal’s benefit at all. Sure, they get a 2C, but is that worth a Zadina or Tkachuk plus Patches?

I guess I'd rather keep AA. He means more to the Hawks than anyone else. The Hawks AS IS are poor with net front presence and Toews/Anisimov are the only two that provide this. Losing AA would hurt this team if nothing came back.

The price to move up from 8th to 3rd is virtually the Nash 1st. Pacioretty for Anisimov is not a good deal straight up.

This isn't a good deal IMO for the Habs. Somebody had made a good Chi trade for MTL 1st a little while back. somehting like this:

Jurco
Duclair
Chi 1st 2018
Nash 1st 2018

for

Mtl 1st 2018
Mtl 4th 2018

That makes more sense. although im not convinced just yet. I think a better trade can be made but this is a better option than the above.

@F50marco What about just Anisimov for the Blackhawks 2nd back and the MTL 3rd? That's less of a trade than Shaw and Anisimov is a better player.

MTL is in no way trading any picks for roster guys over the age of 25. Trading picks for now roster guys is soooo 2015-16..... Sticking Out Tongue

MB has learned from his stupidity......I hope.
