I think Buffalo gets the worst end of it needing to take Russell, Edmonton frees cap, gets 2 talented wingers that play both sides (their biggest need) and who ever they want at 32 this year, which is also pretty good as EDM's prospect pool is ever thin

I love menage a trois,

Buffalo gets: Kailer Yamamoto, Kris Russell, Jeff Petry, Paul Byron, 2019 1st round pick (MTL) for Nylander, A. 2018 2nd round pick (BUF), O'Reilly, R., Scandella, M.
Nylander = Kailer Yamamoto
Scandella, & 2018 2nd round pick (BUF) M = Petry
O'Reilly > Kris Russell, Paul Byron & 2019 1st round pick (MTL)
how do you see it

the Description. I don't think they get enough for what they give up. RNH is much better than Galch, Yamamoto is so much better than Nylander. I don't think dumping Russell and getting a 2nd is enough value to justify what the difference in what they get vs give up

By no means is Edmonton being fleeced however i would not make the deal on their behalf. Edmonton gives up their top winger (Nuge) and top prospect (Yamamoto) and remove Russell (hooray) They receive a high caliber prospect (Nylander) and a a strong winger in return (Chucky). So when you boil it down and look past the prospects, because thats all they are at the moment and there are no sure things, the deal for Edm is Nuge and Russell for Chucky and a 2nd. They downgrade on Nuge however rid themselves of Russ. Not a fleece job by any means just not my cup of tea.

I gave my take on this from the Habs' perspective. I think to sweeten the pot for EDM, you swap Alzner for Lucic. Otherwise, I like it.

I disagree with both evaluations, I think your looking at edmonton through rose colored glasses. I hate Galchenyuk, but wouldnt say RNH is better, even at worst. Galchenyuk has an edge on him. Yamamoto may have a slight edge on Nylander, but hes not without his warts. Nylander has also produced at the professional level a lot more than Yamamoto has to this point and hes only a year older.

Nuge is a better player than Galchenyuk. He is really beginning to show off 200ft game and lined up with McDavid should best his career high in points this season coming up.

I looked carefully to make sure I wasn't missing anything...... Montreal would be beyond ecstatic with this return. I don't know if i would call it a fleece but in no way would Habs be anything other than absolute winners in this deal.

I would agree that Nuge is a better player, hes excelling as a winger for Connor, but has the ability to move to player center. Galchenyuk is a decent winger, but a terrible center.

I thought so too, they may be able to add a piece for the Edmonton side, then Edmonton could send Buffalo Maksimov and id be happier. But i think every team makes out

Chucky is younger and cheaper for similar or greater production.

Imagine him with a real center and hes not forced to play outside his comfort zone
