But it doesn't matter if he is put on LTIR his cap hit is still 5.275 million so it's would be a good trade for them to free up cap space. Then they could go sign someone to help them win now.

His cap hit is still 5.275 cause you don't know how cap relief works. Build the roster as close to the cap limit as possible then put him on LTIR.

They need to get rid of that cap hit and trade his contract. There is no cap relief by putting him on LTIR.

He was on LTIR the entire season. They said they would reevaluate his eligibility for LTIR this offseason, but that hasn't happened yet either.

let's imagine toews and kane injure themselves training this summer. according to people who think ltir players still count against the cap, they would say the hawks now can only spend spend 59m on players instead of 80m
