Yes but he only gets paid $1 mil. This seems right up Arizona’s alley!

Any team with a lot of cap space. In my last post I traded him and a 1st to new jersey for a 7th round pick. And people were giving me **** saying his cap hit was only like a million. But it doesn't matter if he is put on LTIR his cap hit is still 5.275 million so it's would be a good trade for them to free up cap space. Then they could go sign someone to help them win now.

His cap hit is still 5.275 cause you don't know how cap relief works. Build the roster as close to the cap limit as possible then put him on LTIR.

They need to get rid of that cap hit and trade his contract. There is no cap relief by putting him on LTIR.

Look at this post! I put him on LTIR and it said Marián Hossa was placed on LTIR when the team had a cap hit of $68,774,295 resulting in a relief of $0 and a cap hit of $5,275,000

He was on LTIR the entire season. They said they would reevaluate his eligibility for LTIR this offseason, but that hasn't happened yet either.

Well that sounds like some bs. If that is true then I protest it because that's an unfair advantage to get teams out of bad cap hits like this when a guy get hurt. They should have to eat it.

You don't just get rid of the full cap hit. You keep most of it in most cases.

Since his contract wasn’t a 35+ it shouldn’t count against the cap but the hawks are still facing a big problem... “due to Hossa’s retirement, the Hawks may have to pay a cap recapture penalty instated in the previous CBA. The penalty that the BlackHawks are facing is 4.275M for the next 3 seasons”

yes, gmhockey99 seems to troll often just to get a rise from folks. but there is might be some confusion of LTIR. but i wish GMhockey are others could just be think reasonably when they try to discuss LTIR.
let's imagine toews and kane injure themselves training this summer. according to people who think ltir players still count against the cap, they would say the hawks now can only spend spend 59m on players instead of 80m
again the site is cap friendly, not making up rosters and posts with no regard to the rules of the cap. maybe this site should be called cap realistic.
