Hoffman might have really limited his options as UFA in two years. Some teams won't touch him. If nothing else (and we'll see what the CBA and lawyers say), is that one bad Tweet from Hoffman or any of his friends can terminate his contract.

OTT would never compromise their future by taking on Lucic Contract! If Evander Kane, Hartnell, and Duchene were able to get traded after with what happened to them for value, Hoffman can as well.

But if, for some reason, Hoffman (whos a proven goal scorer and in need around the league), has 0 Value for what his GF "allegedly" did. OTT would rather trade him for a 7th round pick instead of picking up Lucic contract.

2) When you trade someone, you don't trade them away for nothing. If OTT were to trade Karlsson, they would be getting some good future pieces in return.
3) Dion Phaneuf sucked. And it had to be done to make cap room to sign other players.
4) I'd rather have Ryan at 7.25M for the next 4 years than Lucic at 6M for the next 5 years hahahahah At least he can still skate.

Please do some research before speaking, look at the stats for Bobby Ryan over the past 5 years and the stats for Lucic. Lucic is over and above the better player. Sure Ryan can skate, when hes healthy

You can't be serious? This has to be a joke! I guessing you don't watch the Sens or the Oilers play? Lucic can barely keep up. Imagine him in 2 or 3 years! The game is changing quickly, (Pun Intended). Sure Ryan had a bad year last year because of injury, but he lit it up in the playoff and sort of turned it around this year.

Now, Is Ryan overpaid? Yes. but he'll be able to play on any teams 3rd line for the next 4 year and be effective.

Lucic, on the other hand, won't belong in the league. He already looks out of place. Quit being so naive

I would rather have Lucic playing on the third line at $6 mil than Ryan at $7.25. At least Lucic has other attributes like toughness. Ryan is as soft as butter and made of glass.

No.. Lucic has arguably the worst contract in the league. Yea, Hoffman situation sucks and will inevitably effect is return. But to say that he can only bring back Lucic? Comonnnnn! The difference is that Kane case was dismissed, because of inconsistancies. Look at Voynov, his contact was terminated by the LA kings because he proven GUILTY. These allegations against Hoffmans fiance were not made by some random person, they were made by his team mate and his team mates wife, use some common sense, the karlssons have known about her for some time, other wise why would they randomly pick her as the assailant. Lucic has a bad contact no doubt, but hes only had 1 bad HALF a season, again use common sense Bobby Ryan is getting paid 7.25 mill to produce 33 points last season thats $219696 per point, Lucic had 34 at 6 million thats $176470. So.... again bobby ryan has the worse contract in the league...
