Yea, that's a definite NO. You can get Burakovsky. Not with Scandella though.

Buffalo would need to add A LOT to that, there's no way that's a one-for-one. Scandella doesn't make sense from a WSH perspective anyways, he's a left-handed 20-point defenseman, if Carlson leaves, the caps would be looking for a offensive right-handed defenseman.
Maybe prospects and a high draft pick would be better for WSH, we need to replenish the pipeline, but I just don't see Oshie being moved this year.

Shed cap to sign carlson and get a top 4d. What needs to be added? Also who for Burka?

This would give you cap to sign carlson. Scandella is a solid top 4 stay at home dman.

How many times this needs to be said here. Caps have 19M space if/when salary cap is 80M next season. More than enough room to keep everyone around.

This would give us just 1.75 mil more room, if that's the difference between us signing Carlson or not, trade away a less valuable guy like Connolly or someone for a good pick. Oshie is a 30-goal scorer, one-for-one with Scandella is not close.

Hard to call someone who has scored 25+ goals twice in his 10 year career a 30 goal scorer...

Did you watch the playoffs and especially the finals? Oshie doesn't just score goals, he destroys people, every Golden Knight was feeling the wear n tear when Oshie is on the ice. AND Capitals have all the space they need to sign the players they want to keep. Taking on Scandella, who's a third pair Dman on Caps roster and giving away your best right wing is plain idiotic.

...But he is... he's scored 30 goals, therefore he's a 30-goal scorer. Doesn't matter though, the point still stands, we can re-sign Carlson without being so desperate that we trade Oshie for a 2nd pairing defensive d-man.

buff fans call eichel elite and he's never had more than 25 goals and 64 points in a season........so i guess each fan base has their own opinions on their own players but you couldn't get oshie....unless you over pay best option imo would be go for bura his value is low due to a bad season

12? That's based on current cap. which is at 75M it's gonna go up to 80M tomorrow. That's why no deals have been announced yet. Bettman said it's gonna be between 78-82M for next season. All odds are it's 80M.

It's been mentioned above, but I wanna reiterate that there's really no reason for the Caps to move Oshie. He's likely gonna play out that entire contract here. He's loved by fans and is still a valuable top 6 guy. He had a cold streak midseason, but picked it back up at the end and played very well in the playoffs. Yeah the contract will suck in like three years, but he plays a game that will allow him to at least stay useful for the end of his contract. Maybe not worth the 5.75m, but considering that the cap is always raising essentially, that contract won't hurt as bad when it's up to 85-88m in maybe three or four years.

I'm saying the cost for carlson and wilson should be 12 million...... i wasn't disagreeing just saying that they would have additional cap after signing the 2 majors people they need to

Well, Wilson had his best year last season, so he's gonna get like 3,5M I think. Sort of a bridge deal like Bura got. Carlson is gonna take probably what OEL got, or maybe give cup discount to settle it at 8M. So yea, then you'd be pretty much correct, 11,5M.
