Duchene and Karlsson (NOT Nylander this time) OTT/TOR trades

Description
With all the Karlsson trade rumors I got wondering what it would take for the Wild to land Karlsson AND Duchene. OTT gets a hefty package here, but I might have to add a little. Let me know what should be added on either trade if they're unfair!

You're gonna want a better return for Spurgeon there.

I was actually just wondering about that. What would the Leafs have to add?

Duchene probably gets 8m and Karlsson gets 12m.

You might be right, either way the Wild could still fit them in their cap. Thanks for the comment!

I think that the deal is fair, but I have to question if Duchene is even much better than Staal in the next year or so. I think the Leafs could probably add one of their goalies and get a low pick in return to the Spurgeon deal

What would the Wild have to add in the Ottawa trade?

I think Duchene will be. Staal is 33, and I'm not confident he will put up 40 goals again. Duchene is only 27 (he'll be 28 next year), and has put up solid numbers. The basis for swapping the two is that we really need Duchene's speed. We were pretty slow last season and it really showed in the Winnipeg series. That's a good idea about the Leafs, I like Pickard a lot I could add him in for maybe the Wild's extra 5th from Washington?

Edit: to add to the Duchene bit, he'd be playing with Granlund and Zucker who can keep up with Duchene's speed and could feed him the puck/finish on Duchene's feeds. I think he's a great fit for the Wild even though we need right shot forwards and he's a lefty

That's pretty creative way to get EK and Duchene. I know Ottawa fans think they should get more, but times a ticking and a sign and trade has to be done soon.
Leafs would have to fit make a trade to get rid of cap so Spurgeon can fit in this year and next...due PBonus and Horton's opening day roster spot, but the trade might be fair. Some good thoughts

Thanks a lot! I agree that Ottawa should definitely do something about Karlsson before they lose him for nothing. Is there any ways the Leafs could fit Spurgeon in? IF (big if here) Duchene and Karlsson signed for this amount the Wild could afford retaining $1M on Spurgeon's salary in return for say the Blue's 4th round pick or something like that.

I will say this, I know Ottawa wants to get it's assets for Karlsson while they can, but if Ottawa really wants to trade Karlsson, they should talk to only bottom tier teams and Colorado to get a 1st round pick. Since they used it up this year, they can't afford to be the worst team, then lose that pick to Colorado (I'm surprised they even used it this year) . they need a first round pick this season so I'd onky try to trade for their first back with Colorado if I'm Ottawa

I agree with you, although they are getting a 1st round pick here and some nice young players here which would speed up the rebuild. Maybe I'll try to figure out a 3-way trade involving these same pieces from OTT and another team's 1st that has a better chance of becoming an early pick.

I think you are right. I also think that any team willing to pay Douche-ene that kind of money is certifiably insane!

I just can't gauge how good he is with the teams/situations he's been in.
