With what money?!?! ... They only have 2.8 million in cap and LTIR doesn’t start until the start of the season.

For sure matched, or Detroit offers him 6.5 haha
If you're looking at how tight Detroit is on the cap, the Franzen contract goes on LTIR once the season starts

FYI, teams can spend way over the cap during the offseason

Offer sheets seriously NEVER HAPPEN. And even if they did, Detroit would match that and if for some reason they didn't match it, you'd have to give them picks. And you'd have cap problems next year.

If they don't then you still don't get him for free.

They will match this offer even if they have only 2.8 million in cap space. You can go as much above the salary cap as you want in the offseason. Just once the regular season starts again teams bust become cap compliant.

There's another buyout window so they can buy someone out.

On what planet do the Leafs need another centre? It is cap compliant, but the Leafs would carrying over all the Performance Bonuses, which screws them next year.

You're just asking for Mathews or Marner to get offer sheated by Detriot next offseason and you will have no money left to match because you gave it all the Nylander and Larkin

we don’t need him or have the cap space. We barely have the space for our 3 young guns

Easily there's no question Detroit matches that, Larkin is probably going to get close to that amount any ways.

Exactly, The Leafs are the very last team that can afford to offer sheet Larkin.

Detroit is not a good team yet, Toronto is which is the difference why they would stay and Larkin might leave.

He can play left wing and center when there are injuries. If we could get him at this price I would take him.

No we don’t! Say goodbye to Matthews if u want him! Matthews is at least 10 Million. Marner will most likely be 8 Million. Nylander 6-7. Don’t even try to make it work

No you don't? After signing Tavares as it is you'll need to off load Nylander for D there's absolutely no way the Leafs can afford Tavares and Matthews at $11 million per Marner at $8 million per Nylander at $7 million per and Larkin at $6 million per That's more then half of the current salary cap for 5 players. And your D is still garbage.

Yeah this coming from a fan whose team hasn't won a cup in 51 years. Detroit has won 4 in 20+ years. What's the Leafs excuse.

They can afford them, they would just need to make 1 small trade in the season.

They could move marleau and picks/prospects to clear cap.

Dude Larkin isn't going to leaves his childhood team for the Leafs, Fat chance of Larkin accepting a $6 million offer sheet from Toronto. When he's more then likely going to get that much from his childhood team that he grew up watching.

Dude you do realize that teams can be over by 10% right? That means that Detroit can be over by as much as $7.95 million. Including Franzens nearly $4 million LTIR and if Zetterberg is done that could very possibly be another $4 million we save on the cap. Either way Larkin would never sign an offer sheet from Toronto.

Yeah and Marleau would need to agree to it as well, Why would Marleau agree to waive his NTC/NMC from the Leafs to help them out? He wouldn't.

laugh laugh Yeah fat chance of Larkin giving up being captain of his childhood team and being the teams #1C to go to Toronto and be a LW there. Not going to happen.
