I want Miro Heiskanen

Created by: Blazingbat11
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 28, 2018
Published: Jul. 28, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
You can argue that it's overpaying to get him, but DAL would still probably turn this down, especially with the rumor that they aren't even willing to include Heiskanen under any circumstances for Karlsson...

BUT! I'd like to believe that at least this deal would grant some consideration for various reasons.

1) It gives the Stars even more cap space to make other moves -> It's almost impossible to make a move for a 1st LW and somehow get more cap space, this deal does that. they'd have close to $9mil in cap still left to maneuver for other deals (or resign Seguin).
2) It reunites Pacthes with Radulov -> they had amazing chemistry in MTL, it would give DAL a solid 1-2 punch with Seguin-Benn, then Pacthes-Radulov. Adding Faksa and Nichushkin to those guys and you have a top 6 as good as any.
3) no lose in the depth chart -> De la Rose would be great replacement for Hanzal in terms of taking on defensive responsibilities in the bottom 6, and Reilly is still a young defensemen who can help now, where you could make a claim Heiskanen isn't ready yet.

They don’t want to trade Heiskanen for Erik Karlsson so I doubt they would trade him for Pacioretty. Think they’d rather stick Honka in their and pay more to get patches alone

Plus they would give up Miro unless an extension was in place and Patches isn’t signing one with Dallas

That's literally what I wrote in the first sentence of my explanation.

Nah, Heiskanen is untouchable. Only player from your team that might get even a little closer to getting him is Drouin.

I'd love to see your crystal ball where you know that Patches wouldn't want to sign in DAL... 1 reporter wrote over 6 months ago that Patches would have interest in FLA and you seem convinced that that's the only place he will sign now when he becomes a UFA....get real

You're probably right, I'd argue if MTL were to include Mete with Pacioretty, it would be really inciting for DAL's perspective. but I'd go for Drouin too if I were DAL lol

I'm only going to address your 3rd point. De La Rose would be an improvement over Hanzal, but we have NHL ready guys in our system that would be an improvement over De La Rose. And Heiskanen is currently one of the best players in the world that's not playing in the NHL. He is absolutely ready for the NHL this season. Both Heiskanen and Reilly will likely play bottom-4 minutes this season, but the only difference is that Heiskanen will eventually be a top-pair defenseman. Reilly will not. Even if the Stars were willing to move Heiskanen, this isn't a deal that they would accept.

If Dallas was willing to move Heiskanen, Montreal would have to start with Pacioretty, a top prospect (Kotkaniemi, Poehling, Mete, Ylonen), and a 2nd/3rd round pick

100% agree, for the Habs, Kotkaniemi would be in the same boat as basically immovable. to an extant Poehling too but i'd say that's more indicative of the Habs weak center depth and less on the player (although he is developing very well from the perspective that he was a late 1st). If a deal would actually happen between DAL-MTL with Heiskanen involved, and I found out that one of Mete and Ylonen would be heading the other way, it would be bittersweet, but still overall happy to get Heiskanen.

And other reporters said he wanted to play in LA and San Jose yet both supposed deals were nixed by him as he declined to sign extensions. And as you like to read my comments you must have also read that I’ve said that it would nice to have Patches but could care less if he does or not. Panthers don’t “need” him.

So Patches not being satisfied with what SJS or LAK were offering him somehow equals he doesn't want to play there?....give me a break. If LA would've offered the same deal Kane got from SJS or what JVR got from PHI after on July 1st, Patches would be in LA right now. they offered him 6x6.
I've only seen you comment on Habs threads and it's always the same garbage, FLA only want to move Bjugstad + spare parts for top players. if Panthers "need" him or not is irrelevant.
