I understand what you are going in with this.. BUT.. Ennis is either 4LW or scratched. I see guys like Kappy, Johnsson, Grundstrom later in the season tried there (Grundstrom is their next winger IMO) but I dont see Ennis there, he is not player that fits with them.

Ennis would have to REALLY impress for this to be an option. Johnsson would likely get the opportunity on Matthews' wing first.

I agree with johnsson and kapenen getting a nod over him, but I wouldn't mind seeing what ennis can do in the top 6 role especially being used as a supporting cast. He is a hard worker and has the skill to still be a 45-50 point player.

I think Ennis is going to work really hard to earn a chance to play higher up in the lineup. Mainly because if he does and produces, he'll earn a bigger contract next season. He came to TO hoping to get a chance to play with the offensive powerhouses they have so he can increase his stock next year. He likely could have received a higher contract from someone else but would have been in a position where he wouldn't be playing with so much skill.

The only way I see this happening is if you want to sabotage Johnsson’s season to keep himcheap next season. I’m still hopping in the future Kapanen is moved to the left to play with Matthews and nylander. Think he would be a great fit. That also depends on grundstrom too. Think he would be a good fit there depending on development of course.

I guess Ennis was signed so he can keep Leivo company in the press box. If he is good enough to earn minutes, good for him. Talent wise I might prefer Grundstom, to be an Leaf, I think he earned it. Maybe the Leafs prefer Grundstrom plays big minutes in the AHL, as opposed to playing few minutes on the crowded left wing.
But on this post, Ennis is on the second line....gag. Marleau, Hyman, Johnson gotta be locks for first three positions.

hate to admint how healthy the leafs forwards have been the last two seasons. They are due for some injury woes sooner than later. This is where i see ennis sliding up
