Let's say the cap next year is $83M. You've got $3M under that, but you have to ice two more players, so there goes a little under $2M. Then you're a million short on Matthews and Kapanen each (at least) and you're paying Johnsson and Lindholm LESS than they're making this year. If they have decent years in 2018-2019, you'll have to give them at least qualifying offers, and probably raises; if not, why sign them at all? And there's Ozhiganov to consider, as well as the option of retaining Carrick.
