He doesn’t want a bridge deal... as I said leafs would match add term probably make it 2-3 years nylander would take it. This is a Lewis gross negotiating tactic... does hold outs all the time. Nylander will get a 6yr deal between 6-7m. He’s not looking to be traded.

It's a offer sheet he doesn't have to accept it but if all I have read and heard about him why not accept it and see what the leafs do I'm sure he is willing to gamble on himself and make the money he thinks he's worth

So nylander signs one year and gets hurt... uh oh. He is certainly looking for term and this is just a negotiating tactic that unfortunately is not going to work out for him. A team is not going to throw out a sheet that won’t be signed.... 6m is far to easy for the leafs. Now Colorado has all the backlash with none of the rewards. Offer sheets just don’t happen and they never work out. It’s cap era and you really can’t afford to over pay players.

Now ask yourself if Colorado can afford this next season? The answer is probably not... lots of rfa’s to resign for your team next season as well. If it looks like a possibility of that does nylander sign knowing he could be moved to a team like Ottawa the season after?

uhhh COL could do this easily

Varlamov and WIlson's cap contracts expire next season - thats almost $10M in cap space right there plus about $2M cap increase and the $12M they already have in cap space this year.

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/879429

^ this shows COL with $3M+ of cap space for next season with nylander @7.5x5. For the following season with a cap increase of $2M and with Soderberg and Nieto contracts expiring that gives them (3+2+4.75+1.975=11.725) about $11.5M in total space. replacing soderberg and nieto with low cost forwards (ELCs like Kaut/Bowers or cheap forwards like Kamenev/Toninato) would cost $2M. That means $9.5 in cap space. Give Barrie a $1.5M raise ($7M AAV) and give Jost and Girard both $4M raises (both about $5M AAV) and youre good to go

And it show’s rantanen at 7.5m... after you sign a 60pt guy at 7.5m what does he get?

So 60 points is 7.5m and 100 is 8m-10 I would say it’s tight. You also squeezed a couple of rfa’s too. I just know that you have a similar cap to us next season. Adding an overpaid nylander fits your budget about as good as ours.

ok fine bump him up to $8.5M... doesnt change much. COL would still have $2M in cap space.

Also dont forget this is with conservative cap increases (+$2M/yr). most likely it will increase more than that

Yes easily nylander is signed then traded in the off season... we have room for a contract this year just not next year.

Typical leaf fan living in fantasyland changing the argument so they look good the question is would Col sign Nylander to a offer sheet to screw the leafs. Van fans love it we'd do it but our luck TO would take the first and third pick and screw us some more it's bad enough we have sat afternoon games when they come to town

We can sign him to an extension... you put up a fantasy post then go on about leafs fans???? If you don’t understand just ask before you act ignorant... I’m always more than willing to explain myself.

You know the NHL season starts in 2 days right? So offer sheet time is done.

No thanks, we have no interest in Nylander.

Sincerely,

A offer sheet can be done up until 7 days before the player is done for the year which I believe is Dec 1

It was a screw leafs post I just wanted to see how many would say leafs match without giving it a thought. They probably match but it becomes a lot trickery getting the team done in the 19-20 season

1) I'm gonna say it again, offer sheets never happen.
2) Nylander doesn't want a 1 year deal most likely.
3) Leafs match.

I'm gonna say it again, offer sheets do happen, but not nearly often enough
Nylander doesn't want a 1 year deal most likely but might gamble on himself
Leafs match but hard decisions to make in the future
Buttons proposed this on leafs lunch but he didn't name a team

LOL funny how everyone says leafs match without looking at the future cost Nylander will need to be matched and cannot be traded Marner and Mathews need to be signed and there are some smart GMs that will know where the leafs are come cap time also I love hearing leaf fans rant LMFAO

They'd without a doubt match a 1-year deal.

if TOR doesnt match this would only cost COL a 1st and a 3rd (but a 1 year $6M deal is unrealistic). if you increase it to around $7M to $7.5M AAV for 5 years the compensation is only a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. If im Sakic i would trade a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Nylander in a heartbeat, especially since we still have OTT 1st and 3rd rounders this year

i wouldn't do that

Yes guilty he did say that on leafs lunch today I think his exact words were if a GM wanted to screw up the leafs throw out a 6m 1 year deal then Dubas has a GM job to do
