In late Nov if nylander still thinks hes worth 8 million

Description
So if nylander refuses to negotiate then it's time to move on. It will be a sad day in leafland but if he and his entourage can't realize that he is't worth 8 million either he is indirectly asking for a trade or he is more like his father than we thought. MIN make a great trade partner for multiple reasons. 1st they are very deep on D. 2nd they have a solid vet forward that can be a sound depth player that has experience at centre/wing that has experience playing under babcock (in tournaments). 3rd are in need of a reboot and more willing to trade seeing the new GM is not tied to the core of this roster. Trading nylander and depth players for Niederreiter, Spurgeon and Staal helps both be even more complete this season but helps long term as well. Also allows the leafs to pull a Belichick. Meaning when a player tries to Mess with your gameplan you trade him to a team either on the cusp of a rebuild that will cost him other revenue streams (ie small market) or is a complete hot mess and will be stuck in purgatory for years. In this situation it's option A though a very strong hockey market MIN is a small market that is even with nylander probably on the cusp of a complete overhaul.

Your right most players in nylanders situation would i heard a rumour he isn't interested in a bridge. I hope it's not true but it would explain why he isn't signed yet.

he wants a long term deal. if he wanted a bridge deal, pretty sure he would be signed by now.

This is talking about Matthews contract.
@Price_is_the_goat is arguing that a shorter contract for him would cost more, because he clearly has no understanding of NHL contracts.

i thought he was talking about nylander. i dont know why matthews would sign a short term contract. i mean eichel signed long term. so did mcdavid. laine will too. barkov long term as well. i dont see why he wont sign long term. start cashing in asap.

I'm not talking about matthews contract in this post i was just talking about Nylander not wanting to sign and what could happen in about a month if he doesn't start negotiating. Matthews will sign a contract that will be longer than maybe nylander. But it might be shorter than some people think especially if he is trying to keep nylander and marner on the roster. Im basing this on Bobby Orr and Matthews stating his next contract will not about salary but winning cups in TOR. But thats a whole different conversation that until Nylander either signs or is traded is on the backburner.

Not the 3 Wild players. 2 of them...maybe. But the 3rd is worth more than the leftovers.

Didn't you say I wasn't giving enough in my Willy trade? You just want to hate on everything?

No, just want fair offers. Most fans suffer from homerism. They think the jerseys of their favorite team have magical powers and make the players that wear them more valuable then they actually are. That and they want to win the trade and only make offers that are lopsided in their favor. Like this one. Make a fair offer that benefits both teams and makes sense, i’ll give you props for it.

How does Dubas look like a doofus if this happens? This return is ridiculously favoring Toronto. 3 NHLers from Minnesota for 2 NHLers from Toronto, 1 of which hasn't participated in an NHL practice since playoffs last season. Nylander is not worth that much right now.

I know, I was talking about the scenario that he’s traded.

Dubas has tried as well as any gm to come to terms with nylander so if nylander forces his hand why is he a doofus? cause he doesn't blow his capspace on an overpriced winger? I hope they can come to terms but if Dubas is forced to trade nylander no one will blame him. Yes he was very confident he could get nylander signed but he was thinking that by now nylanders camp would be actually negotiating.

Where the **** are you getting your info? I haven’t seen anywhere that Nylanders camp isn’t negotiating with Dubas.
