So what is his value? Whatever value you'd put on an above average 2C. A first rounder and decent prospect would probably work as a template. Higher than what the Jets paid to get Stasny.

But if I am a GM and another GM came up to me and said, I'll give you Kadri if you give me 2 1sts and a prospect, I'd say you are crazy. If you then said, he's worth more than his market value to us, I'd say, okay then you are definitely crazy. Team needs shouldn't ever come into play when evaluating value. That's how you make Hall for Larsson trades. Edmonton valued defence higher because it was a team weakness and then overpaid by undervaluing Hall.
