Why do the leafs trade nylander stvthat cap hit? Yes it seems a bit high for 4 years but why give up nylander when the money works?

Just put a number here to make it work but I guarantee Nylander is asking for 7.5 plus which is why there is a delay in this signing and in my mind I rather build a complete team than give Nylander 7.5 Mill plus

You guarantee? On what information? Speculation from unreliable sources? No one knows what's going on, Dubas is a little Lou when it comes to murdering leakers.

Based on what's out there, which again is unreliable, he probs asked for 8@8 hoping for 7@7 or 8@7. The problem for him is the Leafs likely won't go above 6@6.5 as he is not worth more with that term, and the Leafs want to keep Gardiner, so they cannot resign him for more anyways. He will sign, and the leafs won't budge as it implicates major contracts as soon as next year.

Add to that the fact that this return is pitiable at best.

Why would you berate the guy for using "unreliable information" and then go on to write an entire paragraph based on the same speculation lol

The return for Nylander is more than fair. The second round pick is probably a little rich actually.

Ducks have more cap problems than the Leafs next year. Why are other teams so willing to pay pay (overpay) more in Nylander salary than the Leafs are prepared to offer? I agree with you that 7.5m is too high a number for Nylander, hence the reason he hasn't been signed by the Leafs are even an offer sheet of 7.5m for five years would be a modest # 1,2,3 round picks. Think trade you suggested is fair.

the offer sheet argument is bogus. It's an unwritten rule and everyone knows it. Not to mention no one wants the eventual "revenge" that will come with it.

Don't worry the dirt on this will come out sooner rather than later. 13 days left. I hardly doubt the players camp won't go public with something soon.

To humor his point. He also said he guaranteed that Nylander wanted 7.5 as if anyone knows. Going off of the info that is out there you cannot come to the conclusion he did unless you want the leafs to fail, so I pointed it out. It would also be logically consistent with other contracts what I said. Either way, we don't know and all we can do is speculate. Saying he knows for sure that x is true is disengenuous (sic) at best and a shitty argument.
