It might already be too late to fix this mess

Created by: STLBlues17
Team: 2018-19 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2018
Published: Nov. 18, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Besides two great wins against Toronto and Calgary, the Blues have no other impressive wins. They’ve beat the awful Golden Knights twice, the awful Blackhawks once, a lucky win against mediocre Carolina, and a win against the Sharks when they were exhausted. Watching this team makes me want to drink bleach.

Those awful Blackhawks beat your awful blues once you know.... Yeah I feel your pain. At least your GM is trying by signing free agents and making trades, my GM and co. used Q as a scapegoat for a team that clearly doesn't have the right horses to run this race.

Who's counting, at the end of the day we're both racing for Hughes

The Blues will have O’Reilly, Hughes, Schenn, Thomas, and Bozak as their centers and still find a way to not win the cup. It will be a legendary collapse.

Could be worse, you could have Chris Kunitz and Brandon Manning on your team.

I'm not doubting you, believe me I can see it. Yeo has always been a mediocre coach with a plethora of talent to work with. Minnesota is finally getting it together without him.

All those years with Hitch, followed by the Mike Yeo era... There's been so much talent in St. Lou over the years that's been stifled by defensive coaching.

Ironically, if Hitchcock coaches this team they would be fantastic

This team not being good has broken my brain. I was expecting them to be amazing with the moves they made this summer. If it wasn't for Jake Allen they'd have been my pick to lead their Division, and maybe even the west.

I still think they can right the ship. All it takes is a goalie change and maybe a coaching change.

Good Luck in the Jack Hughes race. I hope none of your teams win.

Three weeks ago, when I suggested Pietrangelo for Nylander, there was general agreement that it was way too early to fix this mess, and that it was rude to ask..

Given that the Blues have traded one of their next two first round picks, and have a pretty solid roster, rebuilding through the draft doesn't strike me as their most likely course of action. If they move a #1 defenseman for prospects and picks, this season and next season could be rough.

If you make these two trades, you might as well clean house.

I'll start bidding at Holtby, Kempny, and Samsonov for Dunn, Johnson and Tarasenko. Then you can flip Holtby to Calgary, where fans keep offering Kylington, Smith and a 1st for him. That way you get Smith for Johnson (which is neutral), Kylington for Dunn (which is neutral with more ELC term), and Samsonov and a 1st for Tarasenko, which is pretty darn good.

Okay. Do half a rebuild, with no answer in net, but keep forwards who will turn thirty before you figure it out.
