Why buyout Backes to save 333,333 in cap space? The roster spot? Just scratch him every night. Buy him out the following year when it’s just 1m cap hit for 2 years. If he is still there.

true but... we need roaster spots up here in the NHL. There is already 23 spots I filled in and don't need Backes doing nothing here. I know that buyout the following year is cheap but... don't want to hold onto him for so long. player development

Yea gotta agree Gofornut99. Don't buy out Backes this year. Even if you don't play him much, there are injuries, so others can be recalled to get playing time, so. many no ones development is slowed.

Just don’t re-sign Acciari. Problem solved. I mean i like him. But he’s just a 4th line grinder that you are scratching anyway.

Backes will be moveable after his bonus is paid out. I know fans only care about goals and assist, but the people who actually make decisions look at a lot more.

Even though Backes is under performing on the scoresheet, he is playing a lot better than his stats indicate. just like you said, he will be movable especially to a team looking for a leader..

he may go to a team that needs to fill cap space to reach the floor. That's about it. He's like 35 years old next year. Ain't no one got no time for that.

McAvoy I don't even know what the OP is thinking here. 8 years at 7.75. How about a 2 year prove you can play a season without getting hurt deal at a much lower cap hit. Why sink all that into a guy with serious concussion issues. You'll get taken to the bank on it.
