Value is fair. St Louis says yes. Toronto says, can you retain some salary and St Louis agrees. then they thank each other and announce the deal

Pretty much. I prefer this:

Blues fans say yes. Toronto fans say too much for Petro. Other fans say not enough for Petro. Weird arguments about age curves and cap-structures ensue. Neither team does the trade IRL.

Toronto doesn't do this because they need to keep ever cheap guy possible to fit them with the coreand because they probably cant afford to re-sign Petro at 7 or 8 mill in a year. Then if they haven't won a cup then, theyre screwed unless they get great late rounds drafting

If the Blues keep about $1.5m or so it’d be hard to think of a better, more affordable upgrade (both trade cost and AAV).

They probably still need to make other moves to make the cap work

Fair deal should get it done. Cap space will be tight.

For Toronto it is way to much to give up for 1.5 years of Petro. I would say this deal for parayko is close to fair but Lilly seems like a better candidate for the prospect. I also don’t think Parayko is moved whether it’s a good deal or not. Would have to be a massive overpay.

I think if you go kappy a lesser prospect like Rasanen the first and a conditional first for re sign that seems like fair value for petro if blues want zaitsev (I like zaitsev he is about a million over paid but is solid defensively and would pair perfectly with dunn) I would put I’m in the trade as well. Toronto could also just trade him in the off-season for a 3rd or less.
