Gotta believe Kane's NMC has big meaning.

But to waive to go to a contender isn’t impossible. I agree that he may want to stay in Chicago, it is his home now but I wouldn’t rule this out

I don't like it for the sheer fact it leaves very little wiggle room to sign Rittich and Tkachuk to long term contracts.

Value in the trade isnt really there either. Bennett and Kylington are okay players, just not utilized correctly. Frolik is a cap evener and Czarnik is a contract. Not sure if 2 late 1sts makes up the difference, especially with salary retention

James Neal

Just my thought, that a guy who is drafted by one team, wins a Cup (actually three) and stays with that team thoughout his career, carries a lot more "panache" in the next 50 years of his life than if he changes teams. I'm hoping Marner sees the benefit of signing long term with Leafs. To be a life time Leaf, especially on a winning team (well that's the expectation) will have life time financial benefits, as well as god like status in LeafLand.

So in this trade dump stone and Neal better prospects, Bennett is a week piece so I would say you have to make up for that with prospects unless you are willing to give up Andersson. Let me see what I can come up with.

Yes I agree with that. Not saying it’s a 50/50 shot. Have to think it’s less than a 10% chance. Trading Kane right now could be a really good thing for Chicago. Much like iginla getting his number retired here in Calgary some players still carry that weight in the city they played for.

So i’m Thinking it would be

Neal and stone as cap dumps
Bennet
Dube
Kylington
2019 1st
2020 1st
Conditional 2021 1st round pick if flames win the cup in either 3 years. Reverts to a 4th if they do not.

Had to add that conditional in there because of the weakness of your prospects. Either that or you add home town kid Phillips but he is good... just tiny. I think you keep him.

Bingo! You are 100% correct on not enough value.

So let’s see, a bust, an nhl prospect that’s decent, a winger who hasn’t scored 20 guys in a decade, and a guy that was non tendered a year ago, along with a couple low first rounders. Um, no. If you’re ever making a 6 for 1 trade, stop. To get an elite player you have to give up something that hurts

Calgary doesn't need Kane. they have Gaudreau who is younger, cheaper and really, at this point, better. They should focus more on 2nd and 3rd line depth than for a 9M+ guy in his 30's. Also I gotta think that that's not enough for him.
