Ok so obviously this trade would never happen but this value is soooooo off, not sure if youre trolling. Malkin doesn't have that much more value than O'reilly, maybe you'll get a 1st and Oreilly for Malkin, not their captain and another high pick

lol Malkin has a lot more value than O'Reilly. Yeah O'Reilly is way better defensively no question, but Malkin is having a very down year offensively and still has slightly more points.

That’s fine. They have no need for either of them once Shultz returns

Have you all noticed how poorly STL is performing after adding O'Reilly, Perron and Bozak, while Buffalo after trading O'Reilly is doing very nicely. You do not want that cancer in your locker room.

not only trading malkin away, but have ZAR starting at 3rd center(where he doesn't play, not sure if he played it in AHL or not) and O'Reilly in the press box.

Lol wtf? Malkin worth just ROR and a first? That’s the worst hot take I’ve seen in a long time. Malkin worth ROR and a first. Just read that out loud.

I think Malkin is incredible, one of the best offensive guys in the NHL. But people really underestimate O'reilly, I'd say he's a top 5 defensive forward as well as he's been a PPG on a very meh team, he's also 5 years younger and on a better contract. He'd probably get more than a 1st and Oreilly but not too much more

How is he a top 5 defense forward with a career minus +/- and a minus in 8 out of 10 NHL seasons? I know +/- isn't that valuable of a stat but when there is a pattern of negativity, it's too hard to ignore. Plus he has been on 3 different teams with identical results. Age and contract aren't really a factor when a player still produces offensively and has a positive analytic %. My point is O'Reilly is overrated if anything and he is on a terrible contract.

+/- isnt indicative of if youre a good defensive player, as a Bruins fan I watched a lot of his games as a Sabre and he really is that good. I think hes got a - because he was a #1 center for so long when he really shouldn't have been. I think hes a notch down from Bergeron and personally, if the pens offered Malkin for Bergeron I'd decline.

Guess you were so quick to want to correct me that you neglected to read the fact I clearly stated +/- isn't that valuable of a stat? It's rather contradictory to say "he really is that good" then in the next sentence say "he was a #1 center for so long when he really shouldn't have been" and that "he's a notch down from Bergeron".
