Description

Anaheim is using their most stacked area (D) to upgrade where they need (offense) and getting a young breaking out winger with speed to burn. They are getting a competent D-man back, who when he has PP time (which he would in Anaheim, because Carlyle only likes to play 3 lines and two pairings) is able to put up decent offense (he was the PP QB in his rookie season).

Ducks might have worse cap situation next year. Think they would like the trade better if Zaitsev wasn't included. Jensen gets more, a lot more as a rental.

Fixed, honestly I had suggested a 2nd in the past and people had said it was too much. I wasn't thinking all that much about it...

I just made a AGM and it didn't seem that bad with this trade.

He'll probably command a late 2nd, early 3rd round pick. His metrics are really good this year (especially for a bad team), and he's RHD, which means his value is a little higher than traditional. He'll easily fit into cap situations, so TOR doesn't have to break up his forward lines to bring him in.

Also I just checked. Here is their situation without any trades or signings. It's 16 players at 70 mil. But that includes most of a top 9, a complete top 4 and starting goalie.

So they have 13 million for 2 bottom pairing dmen, 2 top 6 wingers, a backup goalie and 2 healthy scratches. That's more than enough.
