Yea lets just help the Leafs by taking their struggling overpaid winger and their giveaway king and give Toronto our #2 defensemen on a great contract, one of our best forward prospects, and two great picks! Sounds like the perfect trade to me!

Slumps are slumps. He has actually looked very good and has been snakebitten for awhile now. Just had a 3 point game and everything. He is certainly at his lowest value right now, but if you think he wont return to form you and cliff fletcher can discuss trading alex steen...

Petry >> Gardiner, Gardiner is UFA and on the ice, same offensive game but the Petry's defensive game is better.
Nylander, it's very hard to tell his value with the season, but at his prime Nylander < Suzuki, Top20 pick, 2nd round pick and #5-6 defense.
Counter-offers: Gardiner (with a new contract) and Nylander vs Petry, Rielly, 1st pick OR Suzuki

Anyone who thinks a player is at his lowest value after a slump stemming from missing a large portion of the start of the season really should remember the Duchene trade. That guy was in a 2 year slump and still got Colorado a kings randsom.

Every GM in the League knows how good Nylander is and what his ceiling is.

Nylander is at least a season away from hitting his prime and is already the best player in the trade.

Does Matthew or Tavares will be good without Nylander? Yes, the begin of the season show that!!
Does Nylander will be good without a elite center? We have a little answer this year...
Stats always tell the truth!!!

But, Nylander is still the best player in the trade, I didn't write that it wasn't the case!!

Nylander won't be the one to move out of TO if they need to make a move for cap reasons. It'll be Brown, Zaitsev then Johnsson.

People are overacting here. I'll give you a counter offer though which I think is more realistic

2019 1st OR Nick Suzuki
(if Suzuki is chosen, you can add a 2019 2nd)
Petry
Kulak

I agree with this sentiment. Negativity. Negativity everywhere.

Truth is Nylander is in a way untradeable right now. Not because he sucks but because he's better than his stats show and any team trading for him is trying to drive the price down more than he deserves. This is only natural as everyone does it.

Any return the Leafs get for Nylander right now will be an underpayment. That's why you can;t trade him right now.

Suzuki worth more than a first... Why should we add a second if they want Suzuki?

In my mind, the CHOICE that comes with a 1st overall pick is what makes it more valuable than a prospect (Obviously, there's exceptions here, like a top 5 prospect is worth more than a late 1st). But, when we're dealing with a pick likely between 15-25 vs Suzuki in a trade that gets back a top winger that is under 22 years old, I would rather keep the pick and have Timmins work his magic. It's situational, sure, but in my eyes, that is what I was thinking. Suzuki is an amazing prospect, he's killing it in the OHL and i'm incredibly happy we have him in the system BUT there is always the chance that he doesn't pan out. Nylander is a certain NHL player with a minimum 20G 30A floor. I'd take that all day!

In reality, either would be okay with my cause Nylander is an amazing player. His current production doesn't worry me in the slightest.
