Can you protect an already protected pick? The OTT pick was a conditional pick between last draft and this draft...I am not sure you can put condition on an already conditional pick.

when has a projected top-5 pick ever been traded at the trade deadline? Imagine trading the pick that becomes 1st overall... you think having Kevin Hayes sign a contract is worth more than that? thats the exact value Avs fans have been proposing. Its wild how ranger fans are acting like Hayes is now some break out 1C after 2 months of good hockey. Hes a rental and want almost half of what Duchene got in a trade with 2 years left on his contract.

COL doesn't trade that OTT 1st pick. If someone absolutely wants that pick, he will have to pay a CRAZY price. This pick has great value. It must be an offer that Sakic cannot refuse.
