Description
The idea here is EDM will save a $1M now and also get Spooner off their hands for next season. They also get a top 6 forward that needs a change of scenery. Bura will be able to reconnect with McDavid. Bura's speed, skill, and vision will be perfect for McDavid. Additionally they get a young puck moving RHD that can skate, pass, hit, and has a bomb of a shot.

Caps get a high ceiling 20yo who wasn't fitting in with EDM, but could find a home with the Caps. Spooner would go straight to HER so they save some money. How they will deal with him next season I have no idea.

Caps a better pick for taking on Spooner for another season.

This makes a lot of sense for both teams IMO. Caps want to bolster their 3rd line and this would be a great way of doing that. Both Bura and Puljujarvi need changes in scenery and both have some nice upside to them.

Exactly. Both good players but just need something new.

Puljujarvi makes Burakovsky look like Backstrom.

Just watched the Oilers OT loss to Philly, gotta be tough being an Oilers fan these days.
Puljujaarvi was on a line with Brodziak and Colby Cave, I'm sure he'd welcome a change of scenery.. Lol

Like the trade. GMBM might send Puljujarvi to Hershey to get big minutes and confidence and try Spooner on third line. EDM might not like draft pick exchange. I would still do it. Smart gamble

Spooner is three years older than Burakovsky with 500 more NHL minutes and like twenty fewer even strength points. He's passed 10 even strength goals in one season. Bura has three. Spooner has two points in eight career playoff games. Burakovsky has 16 in 49. Edited to add: Burakovsky is outscoring him this year, twelve to five, and playing bigger, tougher minutes with better corsi, so Burakovsky won't require a buyout this summer, when Spooner will.

Puljujarvi does not make up the difference.

Bowey for Puljujarvi is fine. I don't see why we need to talk about Ryan Spooner as long as Sam Gagner is available for less.

How about:
Bowey for Puljujarvi,
Burakovsky for Goldobin,
Jaskin and a 4th for Gagner with half retention?

I liked your idea so much I posted a completely different version of it on the Edmonton side, and I like you so much I didn't try to blame you for it. Let's see if they'll consider it? https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1013024

If not, I think the Caps, with 48 contracts, can sweeten with prospects before they're forced to take on bad contracts. If there's a compliance buyout this summer, then maybe there's some logic to taking on one, but there's just so little cap space.
