If the Jets are going to do a sign and trade for Stone, I just think theyd have to send out one of their 6 mill + wingers to make their money work for next year. Ehlers, Laine or Connor, Im not sure which one theyd do but id take either one straight up for an extended Stone

when they can get a 1st, a top prospect and more for him makes more sense, to trade for several pieces rather than 1 risky one.

when they can get a 1st, a top prospect and more for him makes more sense, to trade for several pieces rather than 1 risky one.

Risky one? He's a 21 year old 40 goal scorer. This is the perfect 1 for 1 for Ottawa

He's not nearly as risky as drafting a late first round draft pick and prospect.

You're right, much better to get a late 1st, prospect, and mid 6 forward instead of the next elite sniper. Glad you're the GM

Younger doesn't mean better. Stone's impact on an entire line is insane and he leads the league in takeaways, his hockey IQ is off the charts and hes a +13 on a team with a -32 goal differential. He makes his linemates look better than they actually are and been averaging a point per game the last 2 years. he's definitely a guy that can put your team over the top.

Stone is a phenomenonal talent. There isn't a debate about that. But if Ottawa is rebuilding, in last place in the NHL when they dont have their first round pick which should be in the top 3 in an awesome draft, you can get Laine in a trade and that will be just as good as picks number 2 or 3 in this draft. Any Ottawa fan who doesn't think it's a good trade is nuts.
