Before jumping in about Burakovsky's weak start, he just had seven points in nine games, so he seems to be back on track. He's eleventh in his draft class in career points, so it's not like he isn't consistent. He just gets hurt sometimes, if you hit him with a hockey stick hard enough.

Moving Burakovsky out of the third line gives up a little offense, for sure, but it stops the team from benching as many decent checking line guys at a time, so maybe the forward group looks better on defense? I don't know. I know they've benched Burakovsky a few times when he wasn't scoring. Did they win? How was their PK, in those games? Any better?

Burakovsky having the same value of Montour??? No way!!! I'm not even an Anaheim fan and I think this trade would be insane and pretty bad for the Ducks.

His qualifying offer has to be for $3¼ million. So if they wanted to sign him for 3 years, it couldn't be any less.

10 Million meaning 10 Million per year is what that normally means, so 3.33M that makes more sense don't go by whole contract. other wise people get confused.

But after his injury-riddled career, he'd be thrilled to get more term at even a slight increase. He's seen good players his age go unsigned, like Duclair and Perlini, and he's seen them end up as third and fourth liners on teams that don't have anything invested in developing them.

I think he'd probably consider 20 over six. Given that he's 8th in his draft class in goals, just between Drouin and Mantha, career.... I think that's going to turn out to be a very, very team-friendly deal. So I hope he stays in Washington unless some team stops ragging on him for having bones that break when people slash him. Everyone's bones do that. He just put up seven points in nine games. He's skating well and controlling the puck well.

He score two breakaway goals in game seven against Vasilevsky. I think Anaheim wins this, because Montour without Lindholm doesn't do quite as well, but I could also see the Caps throwing in one of their top RHD prospects, like maybe Colby Williams, if the Ducks handful of good RHD prospects aren't enough to fill in perfectly (which they are).

Close. Yeah. Ten over three is a fraction: 10/3. You got it now. Lol. smile

Wow. What would you think if they got Anthony Mantha instead, who was picked in the same round, has the same 2.06 career points/60, and has one less career goal?

I mean... Burakovsky's got a career 2.06 points/60. He's 8th in his draft class in career goals... He's had a bunch of injuries, but nothing that doesn't seem to have healed, the way he's played in the last month. He just put up seven points in nine games, starting on the fourth line, and working his way back up to the third line. Imagine if he palyed on a team with a spot for him in its top six.

Eli, the one, or everyone else?

How many times do people have to say that you are wrong before it sets in?

Depends.

Am I on a message board where most people are routinely told they're wrong about everything that gets posted? Because then it seems pretty safe to be wrong. I'm in good company.

I think there's a perception among Ducks fans that Montour is a product of Lindholm, which is hard to say because they play a lot together. There's a perception around the league that anyone on the Caps is a product of Ovechkin, but I think I could count on one hand the games they've played on a line together. Burakovsky is his own player, and he averages 2.06 points/60. Montour averages 1.06, which is great for a defenseman. But the Ducks have a whole lot of good, young defensemen who could take his spot, and want young forwards.

Mantha produces while playing for a terrible team. Burakovsky is consistently regressing while playing for the defending Stanley Cup Champions. I'd take Mantha over Burakovsky any day.

It's funny that you mention that they have identical goal totals but you don't bring up the fact that Burakovsky has played over 100 games more than Mantha.

Regardless of the stats, this isn't baseball where you can judge a player entirely by his stats. The eye test matters, and Burakovsky isn't passing the eye test right now. It was pretty great to see him get destroyed by Phaneuf last night though. If a parking cone has the time to line you up for a hit, you're doing something wrong.

They are tied in points per sixty. Mantha gets more power plays, more minutes, and better linemates. Both have missed time with broken hands and wrists but only one gets a reputation as inconsistent. It's bull. They're even.

Edit: Phaneuf had 2022 NHL hits before that one. You don't have to skate fast to hit people. You just have to know where to skate.

Burakovsky gets less TOI and worse assignments due to his lack of production, his lack of production isn't due to not getting enough minutes or getting bad assignments.

As a Kings fan that has watched every game that Phaneuf has played in since getting traded here from Ottawa, I can attest that he does not get many hits like that anymore. Maybe 2 or 3 total in the 80ish games that he has played in.

93 on the season. Glad you enjoyed that one. Sounds kinda personal, though.
