Didn't they just go out and get Muzzin like a month ago and substantially upgrade their roster by adding Tavares not 8 months ago? It's not like they haven't done anything.

I thought before this week it was a toss up with Boston, but I think Boston has a pretty big edge after the deadline deals

"What do you think about the move not to do ANYTHING in their big year before the cap crunch." Gee, I don't follow that logic. Since last April they acquired Tavares and Muzzin and Kapanen, Johnsson and Dermot are better than last year. So what's the panic? Yes they still could lose in the first round, but a few other "good" teams are might lose in the first round too.

I'm just comparing them to last season
In: Tavares Muzzin Ennis Sparks Goat
Out: Bozak JVR Polak Komarov Martin mcelhinney plekanec
Boston:
In: Coyle Johansson Moore Halak
Out: Nash gionta

If you take into consideration the voodoo that Boston has it dosent give them great odds. Plus the muzzin deal wasn't great as he can't play the right side, so they are going into the playoffs with the exact same problem with the left side being great and a right side of hainsey zaitsev and dermott.

Can't play the right side or Babcock utterly refuses to keep him there longer than 4 games? Even if they go Rielly-Gardiner and let Muzzin anchor the 2nd pair, it's a substantial upgrade on what was featured last postseason.

I like the Leafs' odds against Boston. It'll be another 7-game bloodbath, but I'm very much looking forward to that series. I can't imagine Matthews goes as cold this year as he did last playoffs. And add Tavares? That's a lot for the Bruins to handle.

Add Carlo. Injured for the playoffs last year.

They've already given up their first round pick, they have some really good B prospects that they want to see in the NHL in the near future, and they are cap tied. What type of major move would you like them to do? The only move that would make sense to me is Brown out for a draft pick.

Obviously I said that they did nothing at the DEADLINE so make sure that you read it first. Last years playoffs they actually did have kapanen, dermott and johnsson in the lineup and still lost. The muzzin addition could still be a mistake as he can't play the right side, and neither can Toronto's other top 2 d men.Boston has only gotten better and can still exploit toronto weakness of the right side of their defense plus a 4th line that can't play. They did not address their issues

There is big fascination about RHD, thinking any RHD on the right side is better than ANY left shooting Dman on the left side. So you think Boston acquiring Marcus Johanssen at TDL makes them so much better?

This is what I was getting at, Boston had one weakness last season in the playoffs which was depth. They have young guys coming up along with adding a really good 3rd line centre who can play anywhere in their lineup plus a winger who can play any position and play in to top 6. Toronto did not solidify their right side or the lack of a forth line or getting a backup goalie to take the load off of fready like halak on Boston.

Obviously not ANY right shooting dman is better than left shooting dman playing the right or holl and OZ would be in over dermott and hainsey. I always thought that toronto could beat Boston because Boston has a lack of forward depth. Now they have added 2 2nd/3rd liners without subtracting from their roster which solidifies their forward core so yes, they are better

I think your point here is key. If Hainsey can play the right side, why can't Gards, Muzzin, Reilly or Dert? Is Hainsey that much better than each of those guys at 1Rd, or is that just Babcocks preference? Obviously it is, but why?

I like this trade deadline. I like that Dubas flipped Lindholm for Petan. It opens the door for Moore and it just might even force Babcock to move Marleau to 4C.. if he really values a 4 C so much. A move like that certainly makes more sense to me than spending another 2nd for a 4c . And a 4th line of 2 of Brown, Ennis, Moore centered by Marleau is better than anything we've seen to date..

Not to stir the drama pot, but it kinda seems like Dubas took away one of Babcock's favourite toys in Lindholm. Maybe there is some pushback happening on Babcock's double standards.. i like it.

Can’t tell if you’re serious, but Petan is so much better
