Clarkson's LTIR doesn't affect Vegas's cap at all. If the Sens want it fine, but Vegas isn't paying to get rid of it. If Marleau retires, the Leafs would pay Ottawa to take his cap, which as a plus 35 signing has to got on the 83m cap roster.

Clarkson's contract must count on the cap day 1. Vegas is only 1,7 million under the cap before signing William Karlsson, so they have no choice but to move Clarkson's contract.

Sorry that isn't how LTIR work. It's been a long time illusion by many. If a team wants to pay all of it's bonus in the current year then then it might be necessary to put Clarkson on the 83m roster.
But teams can put Clarkson on LTIR and in effect get 88.25 in cap. Teams are not "cap punished" for LTIR injured players.
Leafs carried two LTIRs for years, Lupul and Clarkson for years for to total of 10.5m and they certainly weren't on the day 1 roster.

By 3:00 EST of the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline will all of Tierney, Pageau, Boedker, Ceci and Demelo have been traded?
I'm thinking at least 3 of them will be, wouldn't be surprised if they're all former Senators by then though.
