To be honest, Brown for Murphy straight up is more than fair for both sides, no need to add a valuable pick going to Chicago.

As for the Kadri trade, you could probably get more, maybe someone like a Gabriel Carlsson too.

Thanks for feedback. Maybe I can get retention on Murphy if pick is included, which would be helpful a lot. Maybe to get Murphy to like 3 million? Maybe.. I was assuming Brown's value is a bit down this year unless he becomes second coming of Bryan Bickell in playoffs this season. Brown for Murphy I would do it. Realistically we would add a pick maybe.. Brown would be great in Chicago. Otter line of Brown-Strome-DeCat would be great imo.

Its realistic that we can get more but I feel like Anderson has high value in CBJs eyes and Peeke is great D prospect with size and smart defensive game.

Again.. thanks for feedback smile

OTT-TOR

1: Unless i am wrong the MacArthur contract is insured so OTT would want to keep that instead of having to actually pay out the Zaitsev contract.

TOR-CHI
2: Zaitsev should be able to be packaged with another player in order to get an upgrade in the position, C.Murphy is arguable worse than Zaitsev leaving the RHD spot worse than where it was before. (Murphys Corsi is really bad)

I agree on Zaitsev deal but that was not the point of this thread. But I agree. I dont know what he could fetch. It might be surprising return on draft day if he is good in playoffs which he often is. The deal about Murphy is not his quality but usage, he is atleast from what Ive seen better defensively than Zaitsev, lacks in offence, which on pairing with Rielly should not be a case and major issue is that he is cheaper and doesnt have that long of a term which Z has. 2yrs less if I remember correctly and a 750k or something like that cheaper. I really think that Z would be great on different team, he is good player, but imo he needs a change of scenery.

Why is Toronto adding more wingers by trading Kadri? Especially right handed shooting ones when they're loaded with them? Marner, Nylander, Kapanen, Bracco.. moving Kadri for another right handed shooting winger is a waste of assets. & please don't say it's for the "grit and toughness" thing, that's so overblown. He could easily fetch that right handed dman they need, focus more on that and making the team more well rounded everywhere instead of loading up at a position that's already a strength

No way does Brown equal Murphy....sorry but that's not a fair trade in the least. Murphy is playing 1st and 2nd line minutes and is a typical stay at home RHD. That doesn't equal a 3rd or 4th line winger.

Unfortunately the Hawks are in no position to move Murphy. He has been the Hawks 2nd best defensive guy. Zaits for Murphy is a horrible trade for Chicago. We have offensive production in Gus, we need another solid stay at home defender not giving up our best or 2nd best stay at home guy.

I get that but I Also can see them trading him for exact same reasons. He is good and they would cash on him. But maybe dont. Would Canucks consider moving Tanev and retention for Brown and pick?

Its not grit and toughness which he is good in its his age, defensive game, goal scoring abilities and good contract what makes him intriguing in my eyes. He would make perfect winger for willly imo. Also I like Peeke a lot.

I'm not saying that he's not good. I've liked him since his junior days. It's just adding another right handed shooting winger when Toronto is loaded with those kinds of players. If it's a winger they're looking it, it should be a left handed one. They only have Johnsson, Marleau and Moore there that are NHL ready. Unless Toronto was gonna move 1 of Kapanen, Marner, Bracco or maybe a Nylander, there really isn't a need for another winger like Anderson. At least not for Kadri, use Kadri's high trade value to get the dman they need. Especially with Anderson's contract expiring soon and all of Toronto's other RFA's and UFA's coming up at the same time, it'd turn into a rental situation almost. That's not really the best or ideal trade value for a guy like Kadri

I would rather keep Zaitsev, and 700,000 premium over Murphy. Then you can trade Brown if you too and get something back instead of giving up a 2nd.
If Kadri =, a centre is wanted by Columbus, I think Andersons wouldn't be available, But maybe their RHD Nutivaara. is avaialbe . Same term as Kadri and at 2.3m.

I think the thought here would be that Nylander would replace Kadri as the 3rd line Center. So that would open up a spot for Anderson to play as a right winger even with Marner, Kapanen & Bracco. I'm not saying I agree with it but that could work. To me I prefer the value of a 3rd line C with a $4.5 Mil contract compared to a 3rd line C with a $6.9 Mil contract, but Anderson is good, In a perfect world Toronto would only have to trade Zaitsev & Brown.

Nutivaara is a left handed shooting dman. Just cause he plays the right side doesn't mean he'd help Toronto all that much. Babcock wants a guy to play the right side that shoots right. It's not worth giving up Kadri and having more lefties next year when they're already deep at that position
