Holy jesus.. Risto retained and Callahan the other way? Botterill would be stupid to do it, despite Sergachev and Miller coming the other way.. also a good note for Buffalo, Keep both.

I agree, drop the retention, drop the 2 thirds and add a TML 2nd going to Buffalo IMO makes more sense. Ristolainen <=> Sergachev, McCabe > Miller - Callahan's cap hit, the 2nd makes up the difference. Does this make sence @SammyT_51

So its basically this?

To TBL:
Ristolainen
McCabe

To BUF:
Miller
Sergachev
Callahan's cap hit
2nd

That makes sense. Maybe lower pick from TBL but generally this makes sense, just not with retention on Risto, that would be stupid.

I agree that this is closer to fair. Tampa gets a LHD to replace Sergachev, and the RHD they need. They trade away players from positions that they have adequate replacement.
Lower as in 3rd or lower as in 1st?

Likely around 3rd, 4th round pick yes. Tampa would get what they need and Buffalo too. What do you think would be D core look like with Sergy in? Imo it would be smth like this

Dahlin-Montour
Sergachev-Stralman (who I believe should be signed by Sabres for at least 2yrs until Borgen develops properly)
Pilut-Bogosian and then replace Bogosian with Borgen whenever he is ready

And tampa's D core? Omg..

Hedman-Ristolainen
McDonagh-Cernak
McCabe-Foote

Holy **** they would have perfect defence

You my friend, know your Hockey. Both TML and BUF have better defenses, which is really hard to believe.
I had Stralman and Donskoi on my list of UFA's to sign this off season. IMO they could each be had for about $4,000,000, 2 years for Stralman and 6 years for Donskoi.
I also agree that Zaitsev is the whipping boy of all TML fans. I have discussed Ristolainen to TML with my son for ages, especially after obtaining Montour.

You too, my friend. Ristolainen to TML would make so much sense. I see hidden potential in him. If he gets his defence together, he is going to be a force. In my opinion his game style would fit the Leafs perfectly smile

Lol I'd reject the original trade from Tampa's viewpoint.
I wouldn't trade Sergy for Risto (even w/ 2m retained) & a 3rd rd pick.
I wouldn't trade Miller, 3rd & Cally for McCabe.

I'd send Sergy, Cally (might add a late rd pick) for Risto (w/ 2m retained)
I'd send Sergy, Miller, Cally for Risto (2m retained) & Nylander/Mittlestadt.

I DONT like idea of trading Miller .. but he would be best value and would be a home run for Buffalo .. also the NTCs are usually not granite.. if player told he sitting or leaving .. it usually leaving .. Johnson to Seattle in 2020 is no brainer .. I still say Gourde although Miller brings more in trade ..
