Description
Should have moved jvr 2 years ago and Gards last year. The returns likely would have been late firsts plus a good prospect for both.

Now that those top UFAs walked without any return the leafs must find a way to fill out its roster with cheap depth and I still believe it has all the peices it needs if things bounce the right way for them.

Moving Marleau out with a buyout makes the most sense for the team. Likely would only accept if he had a shot at coming back at league min.

Moving Z out should be priority #1 and should be doable as he’s a RHD who can skate and play physical. Worse Dmen have been traded for actual value.

Moving Brown isn’t needed if these other moves are made for cap space but I think he needs a change of scenery as Babs turned him into a plug player with zero offense.

The RHD id target is Colin Miller. No idea what they would want in return.

Why would Marleau accept a trade to the last place team in the league? He has a NMC and would most certainly block this move.

Unfortunately you can't buy out Patrick Marleau's contract. Well you can but it doesn't affect the cap hit for the Leafs because he signed a multiyear deal after 35. Buying him out only affects the dollars paid and does nothing for the cap hit that continues on as if he was playing anyway.

I don't see Vegas even considering that deal. I know they're in a cap crunch too, but they can get much better offers from teams than that. Holl and Petan are essentially worthless because they've barely played this year and when they have they haven't been great because of it. So it's really just Miller for a 2nd. I think Miller is a real possibility in Toronro though for numerous reasons. But a better offer has to come to the table for him. Something I've suggested before was Ozhiganov, SDA, and a conditional 2nd that turns into a 1st depending on the Leafs playoff success. The condition might be a bit of an overpayment bur Toronto will have to outbid the other teams trying for him and that might push it over the top for them (also no guarantee it turns into a first, if it did it's a late one anyways). So that would be my counter offer from Toronto. Wouldn't offer too much more though

I din’t think either offer is suitable. Petan is probably worth more than SDA and certainly Holl is worth more than Ozhiganov back in Russia.

Lot of fuss to save 600k if you ask me.

Why do so many on here act like their teams are going to do the Sens a favour by sending their cap dumps to them so that they can hit the cap floor? The Sens have had some bad management but not that bad. They are going to play the field and only be willing to take undesirables from teams willing to pay the hefty price tag. No shortage of teams in cap trouble this offseason so it's going to take "a lot of sweetener".

Why not? Petan has at least proven to be nhl good. SDA certainly had a set back season this year. And Holl is certainly better than nothing.... not by much... lol.

Petan has played 28 NHL games over the last 2 years, by the time he's 23/24 he should be more consistently in the league than that. I'd be willing to bet a lot that teams would rather take a chance on a 19 year old prospect than that. But at best I'd say they're even. Petan is certainly not more valuable though.

& Holl literally has 9 career NHL games by the time he's 27. Ozhiganov is younger and his 49 career games. & most of Holl'a game we're played because guys got injured and he had to step in. Ozhiganov even made the roster over Holl. Theres also no guarantee that Ozhiganov goes back to Russia if he's traded. Maybe he'd like wherever he's traded to. We don't know. But there's no chance Holl has more value than Ozhiganov.
