He is pretty much untouchable. His play as 18yr old NHL defenceman in every situation is insanely good!

I mean, this would never happen but this isn't even close to Dahlin's value. He's a once in a generation Defenseman that can do it all. For arguments sake I'd say start with Debrincat, Boqvist, your 2019 and 2020 1sts to get the conversation started.

LMAO Kane is top 5 player in the league...Dahlin is not even as big as his ceiling is. Cat is top 5 goal scorer in the league. Not a chance anyone in their right mind would give up Cat and Kane for Dahlin.

I agree that the Sabres are not trading Dahlin and more would be needed to convince Betterall to trade away Dahlin.
Gustafsson is a good start, but at 27 he is on the upper end of the age that would fit into the rebuild. More to the point can he duplicate this year's performance for the next 6 years.
While Kahun fits the acceptable age, his past performance appears that he would be a 3rd line center, but Buffalo needs a good 2nd line center. Finally, Rodrigues is looking really good and should be Buffalo's 3rd line center for many years.
Beaudin is a decent prospect, but again Buffalo has other prospects equal to his apparent ceiling.
The first round picks are nice, but at least this years pick would need to be included in the trade.
While I really like Dahlin and think he will be anchoring the Defense for the next 10 years, Buffalo is still 3 to 4 players away from making the playoffs much less, compete for the Cup. Buffalo has a good top line (they are in a bit of a slump now), good bottom pairing (yes, Buffalo fans, Larsson and Girgensons are really good, both have really good Corsi stats even though they both have less then 20% OZ starts), and some defensemen to build around. But where are the middle six?
Finally, I agree Chicago is not going to trade away other players that fit into their resurgence.
This really does not work for either team I am afraid.

Dahlin might be the most valuable player in the entire league behind McDavid when you factor in age, contract, the position he plays and the fact that he's about to be the 3rd D-man EVER to hit 40 points as an 18 year old (the other 2 being Housley and Orr...pretty good company to be in IMO).

Kane and Cat are awesome no doubt about it. It's just impossible to try and put together a reasonable package for this type of player. It's literally in the same category as trying to trade for McDavid.

I'm not saying he isn't going to be great, but you don't trade 2 top 10 forwards, one being a top 5, in the league for one top 5 defensive guy. I wouldn't say Dahlin is the 2nd most valuable player in the league either yet. Kane, Cat and Toews have literally alone kept the Blackhawks in the playoff hunt. Dahlin isn't at that level for Buf yet. He will be one day, but he hasn't changed the course of the team yet. Boqvist and Kane or Cat would be a reasonable trade but none of this fits for either team. Nobody trades top 10 players for top 10 players.

I agree, the 2 teams are in completely different spots. With a few right moves Buffalo should be entering there "Window" in the next 2 years. Chiacgo is nearing the end of there dominance (as there core ages). The trade just doesn't make any sense no matter how you alter it. Chicago should be using every effort to win now, well the Sabres are still stock piling draft picks and young prospects (with Dahlin/ Eichel leading the way).

Unless there was a trade offer so ridiculous (Boqvist, Cat, 2019 1st, 2020 1st, etc. etc) that the Sabres would have no choice but to accept it, there's no chance Dahlin would ever get moved.
